Drobo?

Does anyone use a Drobo as an audio disk?  If so, how's it going?  96k? # of channels?  Are you happy?

External drives can be used but you can expect fewer tracks if you use USB2, Firewire, or Ethernet as your connection. If you use ESATA it should work just like an internal drive providing the drive is the same specs.  But if the external drive is slower (say 5400 rpm vs 7200 rpm internal) then you could still see some slowdown.

My advice is to use an internal drive while working on the project and use the external device for archiving when the project is finished.

I don't use external drives as the active audio disk... I do use them to store bundles, backups, and samples.

I currently use eSATA drives.  They're great.  However, I like the redundancy of the drobo.  Anyone actually use one for audio?

LOL ! yeah, me too. The disk is chrome plated but there is no ESATA connection on them.  There is no way to "slide" any data into them.
