DrumCore 4, which is expected around mid February 2014. - so its still some way off

Looks like there is no upgrade path for Kitcore owners. The buy DC3 now and get the DC4 upgrade free offer puts Drumcore 4 at $199. I will be passing at that price. I wonder if they will ever upgrade Kitcore?

I asked about that in their forum but it hasn't been answered yet.  I have KitCore Deluxe.

It looks to me that they aren't updating Kitcore at the same time - strange as I would have thought the two products are pretty similar - so perhaps they are just dropping the cheaper product, Kitcore and concentrating on Drumcore. It will be very interesting to see what price they want from us poor old Kitcore owners to upgrade to the full package - I know for me, unless very reasonable I shall not bother, and slowly slip Kitcore back into the draw of defunct software.........................

I wonder which we will see first Drumcore 4 or Sampletank 3

The current pricing of Kitcore Delux and Drumcore points to an upgrade price of around $100, more if you just have kitcore. So far there is too little detail to about whats new in Drumcore 4 to make a decision. I have little or no interest in the audio loops. It would take some new kits and MIDI loops to for me to justify that outlay.

Looks like Sonoma have taken a few leads from IK and their Custom Shop. From the KVR anouncment of Drumcore 4.

Online store for easily finding and purchasing content directly in the plugin.

Hopefully they don't go with the dreadful credit approach. Online shop I can deal with, credits not as much. Unlike IK though, they actually announced something, and are offering a decent incentive to pre order.

I just got my reply from Sonoma.  I own KitCore Deluxe and most of the additional packs.  Basically it looks like I can upgrade to DrumCore 3 fro 100.00 using their coupon and another 100.00 to pr-eorder v4.  Since I'll never use the audio loops it doesn't seem like it's worth it.  All I really want is the 64bit GUI.

I'm in the same situation - So if I understand this correctly, you have to spend $100 to upgrade to Drumcore 3 (which I assume will be as unusable as my existing Kitcore) then wait for however long, I expect many months, then spend another $100 to get a program that has features I'll never use, just to get,  as you say,  a working version of what you have. Emmm, not very tempting.

Except that you have to fork over the 2nd $100.00 right away as a "pre-order".

HMM.  Elsewhere on the site it says this, which seems to say two different things 1) pre-order DC4 and 2) last sentence, verified user will be given the DC4 upgrade download for free.  I would think it would make sense to get the DC4 upgrade for free, but then again not everything makes sense!  :)  May be worth shooting them an email to clarify.

They emailed me a $100 off coupon since I own KitCore Deluxe.  That brings the upgrade to $100 for the standard DC3.  Then you have to pre-order the DC4 upgrade for $100.  The way I read this it's $200. I'll reply to the email for clarification.

So if you use the Kitcore upgrade will you be a verified user? - Its well confusing!

The other thing I dont like in this deal is its not at all clear what one will get with Drumcore 4. It says extra kits and genres but there is zero detail. If its $100 for the upgrade and there is some worthwile new kits (not loops) I may be tempted. For $200 its going to have to offer a lot!

In my case I would say its partly useable. I could never get it to run with bitbridge and there are a number of issues using Jbridge. The groove preview does not sync to project tempo and there is other flakeyness. There is some nice content but the general instability in 64 bit makes me reluctant to use it.

And yes if I was desperate I could mess around and install 32 bit Sonar.

    Here their response:

In order to pre-order DrumCore 4 you need to have DrumCore 3 first. So you would need to upgrade from KitCore Deluxe to DrumCore 3 using the $100 coupon making DrumCore 3 $99. Then you can upgrade to DrumCore 4 for $99 plus a free DrummerPack.

    Thanks,

    Josh

    So it's $200.

bummer that they are indeed charging $200.  You could just wait until DC4 is released then and get the update (minus the free expansion pack.)

I got another email from them:

"...We are talking about release a DrumCore Lite version but pricing and details have not been finalized."

    There's hope!

At $200 - count me out. We still don't really know much about DC 4 and if I really want more drums $ 200 will buy significant expansions for my BFD and Superior Drummer.

As Leadfoot is having some sucess with Kitcore and Jbridge I may give it another try, I did not install it on my new DAW.

What's the bet Sampletank 3 will weigh in at a similar price point because of the new content. I predict a riot.

Like Glyn $200 is far too much - and also like Glyn I did not install Kitcore on my new machine so I might try it and see what happens - shall report back re usability
With regards to Drumcore Lite I suppose they might be proffering this as a Kitcore replacement - we shall see

I hope you guys have good luck trying Kitcore again. I tried jBridge as a last resort, because Kitcore was worthless using Cakewalk's bitbridge. As soon as I installed jBridge, Kitcore was perfect. Good luck!
