Drum Machine - Alesis SR18

I have connected my SR18 via midi.
I am using CH10
I can send midi drum data to the SR18 from Sonar,
I cannot get midi from the SR18 to Sonar.

I create a midi track.  Set the Alesis midi ch10 as input. Nothing

What am I doing wrong here?

Where are you expecting the actual drum sounds to come from? I don't see you mention a drum synch in Sonar, nor any audio connection from your Alexis.

Tell us what your equipment list is and we can help you better.  More info, please.  What are you connecting your drum machine to?  Audio/MIDI converter?

All the best,

Check the System Setup on the Alesis itself.  As I recall, there's a 'page' in there to enable MIDI transmission of pads, songs, and patterns.

There's a setting somewhere that lets the DAW trigger the SR18 to start and stop. I can't find it and I don't know if it is in the DAW or the SR18
EDIT:  I have CLOCK IN turned ON on the SR18

So you can send MIDI sync to another device without triggering its sounds.
