Drum Map Manager or Track Template?

Hi Guys and Galls,
Having only recently migrated to Sonar 3 (from Pro 8) and maybe 6 years away from music, have rekindled the old interest.
Now many years ago I did a drum map (and Kontakt Instrument) for NS Kit. Anybody remember that Kit?
Anyway have decided to write drum maps for the 6 Kontakt kits I use. But, would I be better doing this with a track template? I just wish to load an instance of whichever Kontakt kit I am using into a project and when opening PRV see all relevant names listed on the left adjacent to the notes. Can I do this in Track Templates of which as yet I have no experience?
Would appreciate some guidance.

Willy

I prefer to work with a single MIDI track for drums so would use a drum map on the MIDI track. I also prefer to work with individual audio tracks for each drum so would use a track or project template with the MIDI and audio tracks predefined.

So my answer would be use both.

I have what used to be called nskit7. From recollection I have some Kontakt Multis for them and maybe even a sonar drum map but will have to look fo it. If you send me pm to remind me I'll have a look tomorrow.

    Hi Mike,
Yep you and me both. Did the same . Kontakt Multis etc and associated Drum Maps. Was it over ten years ago now? Still sounds good. Did you use the freebe add on percussion as well?
WRT to thread, have decided to use note names in the prv view within a simple track template. This is relatively easy as definition can be written BUT NOT assigned to any midi track, inputs/outputs etc. With Drum maps an individual midi track has to be used together with inputs/outputs. When using the above method, no drum pane but is less hastle as all note names corresponding to Kontakt kit can be displayed and indeed saved within the track template. All I have to do is assign a midi input and a audio out. Works for me.
    Regards,
