Drum Map to Audio for A Dummy Like Me

Hi All, I am new to the forum. I have learned how to use the basics of Sonar X1 producer pretty well over the last few months and really love creating music on it. I know how to add a midi track, and using my usb midi keyboard, record an instrument, then add a softsynth like CoyoteWT, so that when I export the song the midi is converted to audio. Now I am trying to learn about drum maps. I create a new midi track, then I assign the output of that track to a drum map, like "D4 Articulation Map". That's where I get stuck. I can't "connect" the midi track by connecting its output to a softsynth like "CoyoteWT". I have been looking far and near to find a kindergarden level explanation on what needs to be done, but I am stumped. I would so appreciate any advise on how to do this. You map the output of the drum maps to the synth  via the drum map manager not the MIDI track.

Open the drum map manager either from the MIDI track output dropdown or via Preferences->MIDI-:Drum Map Manager and set the output port in the 'Output Port' column of the manager.

You can do all of the rows at once if need be by holding ctrl+shift while selecting the port.
