Drum Replacer ?

So I have a drum loop and I like to just play the hats so I isolated the loops hat by turn the frequency Knob to the respected frequency, I hear what I want, I let go of the knob and its isolates just the kick drum. Even Though my frequency is knob is in 10k range ..I adjust the transients and its still back to the drum kick, and I can replace the kick as intended  but thats it all other elements won't allow me to isolate .and It goes back to the drum kick everytime,  Been using RMix with a lot of artifacts and an EQ to get the sound I want , In fact dragging the audio to a midi track then edit it that way and add my own hat's is my best solution now, Thought DR would do it 1,2,3 I must be missing something. Thanks John

Something's not right. Any setting over about 300Hz should totally flatten a typical kick transient. Isolating hi hats from snares might be a challenge, but killing the kick should not be an issue. Can you share the audio sample somewhere?
