Drum Software

I am a stand alone pianist/keyboardist, so I am looking for a really nice and expansive (not expensive necessarily) drum software. If I could get a consensus or opinion from someone who has tried a few, that would be great.

Also, I have a question regarding this software...

I am using HS2XL. When I install this drum software, are there any real limits to what I could do with the drums? What I mean is, is there a software out there that I can write a drum track inside the drum software, then import it into HS?

What is the main difference in using a Drum software and using the GM drums inside HS? I would hope sound quality would be one of those differences. Price really isn't really an issue, but if I could keep some more money in my wallet, then in someones cash register, that would be ideal.

Thanks in advance,

Don

I have DFH Superior coming in a few days and am looking forward to giving it a good try out. I second the NI Battery mention though. I'm using Battery 2 and it is far and away the quickest utility for drums -- creating voice groups is a snap (to choke hi hats and cymbals) and you can assign any pad to any out. What's nice about this? You can record the entire piece with a single MIDI and then assign pads to different outs (or subgroups) and mix that. I also have the Synthetic Drums 2 extension and am having a blast with that.

If you want to spend just a little, and not make a career out of tweaking drum, EZDrummer is probably a good go for you.

    I'd rather be playing Bass:
