Drum VST that lets you load your own samples
I'm looking for a VST that lets you load .wav audio samples and assign them to midi notes. I have a bunch of drum samples, but I want to write midi notes using those samples. Studio Instruments does not seem to let me do this.

I have BFD3. It uses .wav samples.

I suggest checking out several. The type of music you make and your workflow may affect choice. You can use any sampler, including free versions like tx16wx that will get job done. You can also use dedicated drum sampling vsts like Geist or battery.

Cool thanks. I forgot to mention that I was looking for a free vst. I downloaded TX16Wx, and that seems great so far. I also grabbed Softdrum LTD.

I’m surprised no one has come up with selling drumkits in this format to save the time for lazy folks

Yes, very nice, but assumes that you have Session Drummer 3. That only comes with Sonar Artist or higher, and isn't currently included with Cakewalk by BandLab. https://docs.google.com/s...eFXolbyyzKA/edit#gid=0 If you have a previous Sonar installer that includes SD3, you could custom install that plugin for use with CbB.

TX16Wx like you mentioned is excellent. The next best is probably shortcircuit 2, haven't used either in a long time so I don't know how they compare but they're both excellent and I used them extensively some years ago

abacab Ran across this freebie today. You could load drum samples into this.
Grace is a VST plugin sampler. Everyone should have a sampler in their toolbox.
- Grace is a VST 2.4 plugin. 32bit and 64bit versions available.
- Windows 10
- VST Host (Cubase, Ableton Live, Sonar, FL Studio etc)
http://www.onesmallclue.com/plugin/grace/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYaAh7RL2sE
I wouldn't recommend Grace, because it lacks many features for drum sampler like multirouting. It is more like a sampler for keys, synths, etc, not the drums. https://decomposer.de/sitala.html - New one, simple interface.

Plogue Sforzando can indirectly do what you want and it is free. Sforzando uses SFZ files but you can also drop SF2, DLS and acidized WAV files directly on the interface, and they will automatically get converted to SFZ 2.0, which you can then edit and tweak to your liking! Learn more about it here: https://www.plogue.com/products/sforzando.html
