Drum loops for Addictive Drums Q:

Does anyone know of any 5/4 midi drum patterns/loops for AD2? Been to the website and all it shows is various packs, not time signatures.

Thanks

I have a large number of the AD2 MIDIpaks. Not a single 5/4 beat anywhere. Sorry.

The only 5/4 MIDI that I have is from the Loop Loft Odd Meter Grooves loops. I just noticed that they now have a second volume of Odd Meters that I need to pick up. It also has a 5/4 loop set.

They have bundled the 2 Odd Meter Grooves loop paks for $34.

There's also a MIDI pak of Odd Meters that has a 5/4 set.

Toontrack do some odd meter MIDI packs - the "Monster MIDI Pack 2" has 5/4 loops in it.  "Monster MIDI Pack 4 Fills Odd Meters" also has 5/4 fills.

Trouble is those packs is you cannot get a demo of the 5/4's on offer...pretty expensive if there is nothing in the pack I can use. Have any of you heard the 5/4 loops at all?

Oh and it must be midi not wav as I want to use my AD drums

PM me if you are interested and I will either email you some examples of the 5/4 grooves (as WAVs), or provide a link to some examples.

Edit: I just noticed that you purchased the LL MIDI pak, so you can ignore most of the following. Sorry.

    Ola, joden!

I own the Loop Loft MIDI pak I referenced above (copied here):

    http://www.thelooploft.com/collections/midi-loops/products/odd-meter-drums-midi-drum-loops

I haven't used the 5/4 loops yet, so I tested them out by dragging each .MID file into the piano roll of AD2 standalone and then played the file through the default drum kit that loads when you start AD2. Here's what I can tell you.

    1) The 5/4 folder is called Big Kit. It contains 6 Break (Brk) files, 9 Fill files and 21 Groove (Grv) files.

    2) The Groove MIDIs are all 2 bars in length.

    3) I heard some interesting, somewhat complex grooves.

    4) The kit pieces I heard were: kick, snare, some cymbal (bell, ride, maybe crash) and a couple of claps. Don't recall hearing toms or high hat, but I wasn't paying THAT much attention at the time. Sorry.

    5) I checked a couple of the files in MIDI Yodi and here's the (maybe) bad news: they are single track Type 1 files.

I made a short .WAV file from the Grv-5 file, but I can't find a way to attach it. I suppose I could post it to Soundcloud, unless someone can tell me how to post it/attach it (I don't have a Dropbox account, but I do have a Google Drive account; maybe I could share it that way).

Hope this helps...one way or the other.

thanks maartian - you went above and beyond there my man (girl?) yeah the pack looks okay and the 5/4's are not simple "Take 5" patterns...some of the grooves are nice. I might still look at some Toon track gear though...can't have too many hey...especially as a drummer I make a great violinist :)

Male. I wore the pants in the family. Unless my ex-wife was home.

Glad you like the grooves, that's the main thing!

Speaking of violinists...Lindsey Sterling. She's gonna be my first test of Drum Replacer. I loved her YT videos, so I bought her eponymous album. Ouch! The bonus "orchestral" versions are listenable, but I can't stand the main tracks. There's a drum machine kick panned dead center, mixed way too loud, on every song. Listening felt no different than getting a root canal.  I'll take Crystallize or Transcendence and use DR to replace that kick with something I can tolerate. I'd like to be able to listen to the rest of the mix.
