Drum making easier?

I have sonar le plus the production pack which comes with a studio drummer program but I dont see a way to sequence my own bneats other then enmtering each drum note manually in piano roll mode which is way too annoying and time consuming.Can anyone help me find an easier way. I like the app hydrogen drum sequencer but I dont saee a way to get sonar to "see" it. Thanks so much;

    If you have a MIDI keyboard or MIDI drum machine you can record the drums as you play (that's the easiest way).
    Above the PRV may be a brush tool with a drop down arrow next to it. That's the Pattern Brush Tool. Select the brush tool then click the drop down arrow and choose a pattern then draw it in the PRV with the brush.
    You can also make a short MIDI drum clip (make sure it starts and stops exactly on the measure), go to the Track view, right-click the clip and select Groove Looping. The clip's corners will become bevelled to show that it's a Groove Clip. Grab either end of the clip and drag it out as far as you want.
    I just got SI Drums myself, but haven't played with it much. But most drum programs come with MIDI patterns and there is almost always a way to get that pattern in a MIDI track, either by double-clicking the clip name, dragging it into the MIDI track or clicking some icon which will paste the clip in the track.

    Okay, just played around with SID a little.
    You select a style and click the + next to the style name and drum patterns drop down.
    You can audition the patterns by double-clicking on them or single-clicking and then click the play button.
    Once you find one you want to use, make sure the Snap-to setting is Measure then drag that pattern into the MIDI track you're using, where you want to use it.
    These are Groove Clips so you can drag the clips out as far as you want, either forward or backward, and the pattern will play that long and respond to tempo changes, too.

     Hey thanks 57 Gregy!Yea i guess I was hoping I could make my own patterns with the SID without having to enter in the notes manually although after a little practice Itakes me a bit less time but not worth it,i wish it had a sequencer(i know there is one in x1) Are there any more drum loops or sounds or vst instruments/effects that are free?besides the kinda crappy "free efx 1,2,3"here at cakewalk.com I unmderstand the need to make a profit on an investment but it would be nice to see more free effects for mixing and such.I have been downloading free effects and many either do not work or just suck. I dont mean that to sound mean-spiriterd or anything either,I dig sonar.

    Well, all SONAR products are sequencers, so I don't understand what you mean by "i wish it had a sequencer(i know there is one in x1)".
    Do you mean 'step sequencer'?
    All Cakewalk products I have include the option for 'step recording', but I don't have an LE version.

    Have you tried groove looping? As I wrote above (post #2), you can write a short clip, a measure or so, the make it a groove clip and drag it out for as many measures as you want, say 12 measures, the make another one for a break or chorus, groove loop that, drag it out, copy the first one, paste it in after the chorus and drag it out. It's pretty fast and easy to make a song length drum track that way.
    Once the whole track is done, you can go into the PRV or staff view and add or delete notes anywhere in the track.
