Drummer Levon Helm in end stages of cancer

Seems like the only time I come around here anymore is when there's bad/sad news. Just read this morning that drummer Levon Helm of The Band is in the end stages of cancer. Very sad. He has/had a very distinctive voice.

    Thanks for the heads up Jack.

    Mr Helms seemed to have a wonderful second career after his throat surgery a few years back.

    He has helped a lot of people make some great music.

    It's sad to think he might be suffering now.

    Very sad news indeed!

    Such a great talent, and a wonderful person. Both his drumming and vocals have a very unique style, one of my favorites on both! 

    Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!

    A unique man.  A unique musician.  Prayers and best wishes to Levon and his family.  

    Should auld acquaintance be forgot--hey, who the hell are you guys?

    Marc Cohn does a song called "Listening to Levon". I'll break that out and the Best of The Band CD.
