Drummix Metal 1 finally released! (former Mydrumset)

Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a good feeling for me to tell you that I am finally finished with Drummix Metal 1. This is the first edition of hopefully a long list of great sounding drum kits.
This particular drum kit is one of the 25 famous copies of Lars Ulrich TAMA Artstar 2. It is recorded in a professional studio with top notch equipment and it sounds absolutely amazing. It can be used to all kinds of metal and even rock music. Please got to the website and have a listen. The drum kit has been given a price of 50 dollars which is way cheaper than any of our competitors:-)

As with Mydrumset, these are unprocessed drum sounds and you can mix it to sound like anything you want.

    Thanks!

I forgot to mention that Mydrumset which Drummix is the outcome of, beat both EZdrummer and BFD by 90 percent of the votes in an anymounus poll some time ago:-)

"We believe the effects you have in your DAW are much better than the ones inside a drum plug-in."

I would have to argue the opposite when it comes to BFD 2.
The effects that come with BFD 2 are as good if not better than many of the ones that come with sonar + it has many that sonar just doesn't have that are ideal for drums such as filter mod & ring mod, bit crusher, envelope shaper, noise gate, breverb and psp vintage warmer.
I can't speak for superior drummers effects so perhaps they are not as good as the ones that come with sonar, addictive drums effects are few and not really worth using it must be said.

I don't know BFD2 too well, but this statement is a general statement. It is also important to remember that when saying inside your DAW, that also means the huge amount of plugins available as inserts. As I said I don't know BFD2 too well, but I know Univeral Audio, Waves, URS, Fabfilter and Sonnox plugins and I doubt that BFD2's effects are as good. But then again, I migth be wrong.

For me it's like buying a stereo. A packed with everything included can sometimes be a good deal, but often some of the parts are crap and while others can stand the test of time. Usually it's better (if you can afford) to buy quality parts from different brands and stores:-) See!

OK, that's a bit different, I thought you meant the ones that come with your sequencer.

If you look at the ones that come with BFD2 "here"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0oEN3P73pk

you may notice a similarity with Sonar X1's "pro-Channel"
The guys at FXpansion said in a video "The making of BFD2" that their effects were made by a company who are also making them for another well known sequencer. Could be they're the same people.
There are two reverbs one of which is "breverb"  supplied by overloud which is excellent but sadly not the full version.

I know what you mean about stereos but there are definitely no crap
    effects with BFD2. :)

    So I downloaded your demo.

    Sounds good.

Is the demo limited to stereo output only? IOW, is the full product capable of individual outs (via SONAR's Insert Synth dialog)?

I figured it out. The demo is limited to stereo outs. DUH!

I have decided to run a 30 dollar introduction offer on the plugin!!!!
It will run until the next edition will be released, which will be a rcok edition. A supercool Ludwig Fab four recorded through a NEVE VR60 in a huge recording studio.

    Grab it while it's hot.

So far the reports are coming in that the plugins work smooth on all systems. Some small issues I'm going to fix until next version but nothing important.

People are also telling me that it uses very little CPU and memory compared to Mydrumset:-)

    From one of the users:
The memory "load" I was asking about seems to be less than even the 70s kit on my Win XP SP3 music computer.. with nothing else running, Reaper is using 308,796K... pretty good, far less than what the Ludwig MyDrumset kit demands..

People are also happy about the stereo version that is included which makes it very nice for a quick up and running plugin regars to composing.

    I bought this kit.

As a single kit for $30 it fantastic for what it does.

One caveat, it's still in early development and has one minor niggle to work out.  If you load the samples in other than the default install directory (on the C drive no less ) you must reload the samples each time you open the project. Bjarte says he's working on allowing any install directory).

I used this kit on a very metal based tune where I was originally using Toontracks MetalHeads. This kit cut through the mix much better.

The up and downside is it's a single kit. No choices of kit pieces.

I will be getting his new Rock kit when that comes out.

Thanks a lot for the nice words bapu!
That coming from a person that seem to have all the acoustic drum plugins ever released means a lot

    You're welcome Bluenoise.

For a particular metal tune I had loaded this kit was killer vs what I was using.

I also purchased this kit but had some little issues with registration as it seemed to clash with Bandecho (which is fantastic - I don't know if you've tried it yet but it is quickly becoming one of my favourite delay / mangling (!) effects).
Anyway Bjarte at Bluenoise  has sorted that now. He seems a very conscientious guy I have to say.

My question is in the brief time I tried Drummix (had to uninstall to sort out the registration problem and haven't gotten round to a reinstall just yet) I tried to use a midi track from Toontrack - unfortunately Drummix did not sound correct as the mapping was incorrect. I didn't get round to trying to correct this before the uninstall.

How much work did you have to do on the Toontrack midi track to make it work in Drummix?? Did you use Ezplayer to convert the original to the Drummix format and if yes what settings did you use?
This would be really helpful to know
    Thanks
    Nigel

I tend to make a drum map (called something like MetalHeadsToMetal1) to test out. If I'm committed to the new module I then take a Cal script I wrote which (one at a time) allows me to say change note X to Y. Of course I would archive the original MIDI track just in case I want to compare later.

    Hi Bapu
Thanks - sounds a little bit advanced for me I think!
I'll just stick to my midi grooves then re-programming them as I want  - not really up on drum maps and cal scripts!
Means I doubt if I'll use Drummix much,  if at all, so I probably won't bother reinstalling - shame but I decided a little while ago to always go the easy route so I could concentrate more on the music and not becoming some computer wiz!! I've even gone back to mainly hard synths after all the software debacles of late (gigasampler (Muse) Powercore, Kore - I could go on!!!!!!)
    But thanks again for explaining.
