Drumtracker

OK, why on Earth is this thing discontinued?? I got a demonstration of this tonight because I am about to do a whole lot of drum replaceing and it's perfect for my way of working! I run home, pull out my credit card getting ready to purchase and BAM!!!!!

Discontinued...

So, is there something that work like this? I had a play with Autosnap for the purpose of extracting MIDI - sorry, I still don't like it and it creates MIDI files with fixed velocity - unusable to me and way too much work. Drumagog, I hate it and the MIDI out thing is totally hit and miss.

So is there a extract-midi-from-drum-tracks-as-easy-as-Drumtracker-do-it piece of software out there that I can't find?

    How about Melodyne Editor?

Not trying to be funny, just speculating out of the box.

Oh, yes I tried that too. Wow, what a racket! LOL

The cool thing about Drumtracker I that it would take a track and mark the MIDI points at transients that clearly goes above a threshold, a threshold that can be changed and adjusted along the way BTW. Melodyne will add MIDI points to all the microphone bleeds too haha, sure was fun trying. With some excessive gating, I got something that almost worked. And almost just doesn't cut it with this;)

Great suggestion though. I also tried using the Audio to MIDI function in Ableton Live 9 but it was pretty useless. I would hate to have to use Drumagog for this

    Hey Jeff!

Good call - I found some leftover stock at a local music store. The salesguy claimed it still is possible to activate it. Got it really cheap! Can't wait to check it out tonight ;)

Still can't believe this is discontinued, though...

    Cheers everyone!

It seems like it could make a powerful tempo map preparation tool as well.

I dunno about that actually. Perhaps? Didn't look into that when it was demonstrated to me. But - and this is great - it can import tempo mappings to fit the MIDI file to the exact tempo your DAW is operating from, which is really great! The exported MIDI is matched to project tempo so your project have to match the BPM before you import. And it handles tempo maps in the same way. Geeky, I know. It's really cool Combine that with the extremely precise MIDI conversion - I know Drumagog and others mess up the timing after a while - and it's a clear winner for me.
