Dumb Question Time....
I have been hunting high and low for something to use to 'complete' my drumkit...a gong. Yes. A Gong if you please... Does anyone know of a good source for such a thing?

I just use the one that comes on the SPD-20 (it's got the other fun stuff like wind chimes and even a cowbell too!).

dumb suggestion.... get a garbage can lid....remover the handle and beat the rim flat with a hammer. Spray paint the lid with gold spray paint...... no one will know the difference. OR..... You can also visit a Buddhist temple, I understand they have those things in various sizes..... be careful of the monks though.... I hear they can do some crazy martial arts stuff on you if they catch you trying to walk out the door with their gongs.

Actually I agree with that ... to a large degree. If you figure out to hit it just right, and at the right time, it will sound perfect in the whole scheme of things and no one knows any better. It was the same thing when I was listening to Vangelis and he says that everyone of his pieces has teaspoons on it ... and you go ... WHAT? ... and when you listen to the pieces clinically ... you can find them, and you go ... you SOB ... and you never thought that would be teaspoons! It doesn't have to do with teaspoons, or music ... has to do with the feeling and the flow that you live with ... he stated that in his early days he used to play the spoons on glasses and such and that the sounds fascinated him, and his keyboards became the same thing. It's about the little sound it makes and where it takes you ... So yeah ... that is a good suggestion and a fun one at the same time ... but no one will believe that far out little sound in the background that adds a third dimention to your piece of music ... is ... a garbage can lid! And it could be! A lot of times, it is about creating the feeling ... not by thinking, but by ingenuity ... and if in the end you can add a Gong, even more ingenuity can be added ... but I can tell you that a lot of drummers do not know how to use Gongs and after a while it is really boring and tiring ... and pathetic!
