Dumb Question

Hello All,

I have kind of a strange question.  Is it possible to run two instances of SONAR X1 on the same computer...one 64-bit and the other 32-bit??

I ask this because I like working in the 64-bit environment because I can take advantage of the extra resources my PC has to offer without putting a strain on it....However, I also have some WAVES plugins that I use which only run in 32-bit.

I was kind of hoping for a best of both worlds solution like being able to istall SONAR both ways without having to sacrifice.

Am I S.O.L. ?

Thanks

Absolutely! I run an Asus Quad 64. I have Sonar 8.5 64 and 32, and X1 64 and 32. No problems except if you try to open a project that has ProChannel in it on 8.5 Rock on with both!

BTW, your plugs in your 32 bit version may not run in 64. If not just freeze the audio tracks in 32 and delete the plugs. Save the project. It should open fine in 64.

All of my Waves plugs run in Sonar 64 bit on my computer. I have Waves Gold  version 8. I'm pretty sure they're 32 bit plugs doing the bit bridge thing. Waves Tech  support is very helpful if you call them rather than e-mailing them.  Not sure if that helps but it may be worth doing the wup thing to avoid the hassle.

Hey,Mojo, I'm sorry. I forgot to tell you,if you didn't know. If you will add your 32 bit vst folders in the plugin manager scan for X1 64, you will have the 32 bit plugins that work with Bitbridge added to your list of plugs in 64. I have had more 32 bit plugs than I thought available in X1 64 than I thought would work. Try it!
