Dumb question - raise volume on one side of stereo track?
Hi all, I found a mix of a tune my old band in the 80s did. Somebody wanted a copy for an indie movie he's making, so I transferred it from cassette to Sonar Platinum. The left side is somewhat lower in volume than the right. I'm guessing I can separate it into two mono tracks, but is there a way to raise the left side volume to match the right without doing that? Thanks! - Russ

I think you would insert the Channel Tools Plugin and turn up the volume on the side needed within the plugin

Insert the Channel Tools plugin, and turn up the gain for the channel that is quieter.

Channel Tools is overkill. Pan is perfect for this.

Hi Russ. You could use the cakewalk channel tools plugin. Just insert it in the fx bin of the track and you can adjust the gain and balance of each side of a stereo track independently. EDIT: HAHA - three simultaneous answers! I guess you can ignore this one:)

Thanks, all. I knew it was a simple answer, I just got a brain fart. Channel insert did it! - Russ

John's right you know. Pan on a stereo track is like a balance control on a hi-fi. As you go to one side, the other side gets turned down, and the side you're going to gets turned up. Do that til both sides of the meter are more or less hitting the same levels.

Hi. I believe that John and John T is right in saying that pan is the easier way of doing this, but it is of course possible to do this with CT as well. All the best.

Yeah. No need to use Channel Tools. Pan does the job.
