Dumping new LAyla 3G

Here's my dilemma: I've been preparing for an upgrade to software, sound card, and computer (Thank you tax return.) About a month ago, I bought a Layla 3g (which I have used) and Dimension Pro. I am now ready to get the computer. I am going to have ADK build me a computer. As it turns out, the Layla is not compatible with the current AMD MOBOs. I thought that I had done all my research, but I didn't hear about any compatibility issues until I was infromed by ADK.

I'm looking for suggestions. Should I dump the Layla 3G and go with another card...maybe an RME multiface, or should I just have him build me an Intel baesd machine and keep the Layla 3G. It seems that the price difference between the RME and AMD would not be huge compared to keeping the Layla and going with Intel. Do you think that I could ebay the Layla and get $300.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian

From what I've seen, asked, or read, the AMD solution is superior.

    1973 "A" neck.

    I'd rather be playing Bass:

    Hi Brian,
I think you chose wisely going with Scott from ADK. He would have been the one I would have went with, if I hadn't decided to build my own.

I did a quick search on eBay and it looks like used Layla 3G's are selling for $349 with the buy-it-now.

    One Auction

    Another Auction

I'm not sure which option between AMD or Intel is currently the best choice. I personally went with AMD and the RME Fireface 800 for the new build I'm working on. You may want to decide on the interface first and if you plan to use any UAD cards and have Scott help you with your decision to make sure everything is compatible.

    Good luck! JD...

    Strange...

I thought ADK is using nForce 3 chipsets...

I have a nForce 3 mobo, the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum, and a Echo Gina 3G audio interface, which has the same driver than the Layla 3G. I have no problems running this configuration, to be more precise, no problems at all: this computer has worked like charm.

    Just my 2 cents.

Although I do not totally understand the issue, Scott said that the problem isn't consistent, maybe it is a defect in some Laylas, I don't know. He said that soetimes there may be popping and clicking. Scott has offered to test my Layla to see if it will function correctly. I decided to record some quieter les busy tracks with my old Dell last night and there was some noise.

ADK has given me great customer service as I pretty much had given up on using the Layla and going with something else. He could have made a bigger sale. Needless to say, if I am as happy with the setup that I get from him as I think I will be, he will have a customer for life.
    Thanks for all your input,
    Brian
