Well, this surely fits the wookie in the snow photograph. Pretty dark sound to this one. Interesting textures and sounds you got out of the Em 13. Very creative and interesting.

Hey, Wook,

Very nice "Trancy?" bit of tasty electronica!  Lots of cool synth elements weaving in and about, and as John mentioned above, a ton of inspired creativity on your part to put something so interesting together using just one chord.

The mix sounds great on my system, loud, clear and dynamic.

Nice work, brother Wookster!

Best Wishes,
Bob

I like that ambient mystic bassy sound. Nice build-up! I think the sweep melody sound takes too much place. Fits perfect in a futuristic computer game.

I like this John. Loads of atmosphere and lovely sense of of space in the mix/arrangement. A couple of the lead sounds were a little jarring to me, a bit too 'Kraftwerk' but I could have listened to 2 more minutes of this.

Nice job John! Kinda sci-fi to me...dug the pan stuff changing up with the lead selection. Pulsing section was pretty nifty too. :)

Thanks Leizer for listening and commenting.  The ambient mystic bass sound made by Arturia's SEM V.  All sounds by Arturia soft synths as it happens.

James thank you for having listen, I hear you regards the lead sound it is not so hard in the wave file.

Danny thank you, encouragement from a man of your talent is always appreciated.

Re: E Minor Thirteen 2013/12/15 16:07:01 (permalink)
If I were writing a movie scene around this, it would be a man walking through a deserted old city ruin who then comes upon an old electronic 'antique' like an Iphone 5S and starts tweaking with it. But every once in a while, he has to look up to make sure the 'airships' aren't patrolling.  (Been watching too much 'Fringe' I think ... ).  :-)

In other words, very futuristic in character.  I do find the lead lines/synths 'cutting' a little bit (but it could be the migraine fomenting in my grey/white matter at the moment - hard to say). I think I'd like to hear the lead synths a little more 'back there' but with some disturbing effects layered over them.  Have you ever heard of a plug called, 'Spectrumworx'?  You can pull out some really funky filtering modes and effects with that thing.

Well, I'm glad to have checked in and seen what's going on.

Feel free to dig into our 'trove' of Mixing Help Guides too. Since we posted these doc's online (2003? ... can't remember) we have had several thousand downloads.  We don't even know who's doing the linking.  The best doc in there is the one I created called, "Mixing and Frequency Guide - 2013".  Handy sheet to have when mixing down.
