Looks like EW Choirs won't be fully functional in Sonar: "WordBuilder must be run in standalone mode when used with a host that does not support VST-MA (Cubase/Nuendo) or MFX (Sonar)."

Maybe I'll just run it in Studio One 2. I love the Choirs and Storm Drum 2, coupled with the orchestra, has a lot of drama and polish. It might add some Rock/Orch/ opera drama and elements to my music. This all sounds like a heckuva deal: 2 for 1! Anybody here use any Eastwest stuff? Any thoughts on this promo and Eastwest products? I currently own none, and have no ilok.

It's a great way to add to your library collection, and you can't go wrong with a 2 for 1. Great value for the price. I took advantage of a 2 for 1 sale many months ago (QL Pianos and RA) and am completely satisfied with my purchases (and then some). Actually, with the CDN $ on par or better with the USD for the past year, I've made the jump to 64 bits and have purchased quite a few software products (all on sale). It's been a great year for software purchases and EastWest products are now a big part of the tools I use on a daily basis. As for the iLok... I'm sold on it. For one, I've never had any problems with it. I like the fact that I can manage all my licenses in 1 place and also the convenience of having a vendor transfer an iLok license directly into my account which I can then transfer to my iLok key locally. I also appreciate the fact that I don't need to be permanently connected to the net (big advantage for a dedicated DAW). In fact, I like it so much that I look for and favor vendors that offer an iLok license. Also, if I was in the studio business as many are here, it would be a simple thing to setup a backup machine and be ready to go in the time it would take me to physically plug my iLok key into the backup machine, if ever the main one decided to die. IMHO, this is the way to go.

I've read some things about problems here and there that it was buggy for some people and wondered if any issues still persist. The demos are impressive and the sounds are otherwise very good, something that definitely makes me interested in buying their products. I just want to make sure that the software and support is rock solid reliable before I put my money down.

I have not had any problems at all with PLAY 3. But then I have a new build which has been streamlined into a dedicated DAW. I'm also familiar with most of the problems that a few EastWest users have had and although I don't wish that on anyone, this was/is not my experience with the player. Mac and Cubase users seem to have a disproportionate percentage of the current issues being discussed over at the EastWest forums, which doesn't seem to be your case.

EW user here also Ilok .The latest Play engine works well, although I upgraded my system to win 7 64 bit, even when i was on xp and earlier versions of play it ran ok, but i didnt do massive ork plugs . I would visit their users forum if you havent already and read some pros and cons over there. EW technical and customer support has been abysmal but perhaps thats changed. I think the 2 for 1 is the second product has to be equal or lesser value so the last time I wanted to try it, I couldnt find exactly what I wanted as far as fitting the price point, I have SO gold, Fab 4, Gypsy, and Pianos gold already.

I'd like the Choirs and Fabfour but $495!!!!! I'll have to stick with $20 no brainers for the time being. They do occasionally have flash sales at namm time, which aren't bad.

Yea, a few years back I picked up Gypsy and got RA free in one of those 2 for 1's. MM100 is correct, free product had to be of equal or lesser value.

Good information here. I have been watching the EW and KVR forums concerning EW products and support. Also watching online video demos. I'd love to have Orchestra Gold and the Choirs. I'm not sure ministry of Rock would fulfill all of my hopes for a virtual guitar, both electric and acoustic - but these are my other interests yet to be fulfilled. Gypsy was nice but too ethnically oriented, perhaps. Nice guitar and fabulous violin. Storm Drum is pretty awesome, too.

Anyone here ever done any business with Florida Music? I can't get some of the EW software at Guitar Center, and if I did it has to be ordered and shipped.

Florida Music Company is great. You can trade in stuff, like software or any CD you have laying around, and get a discount on your new purchase.
