EQ - FX Bin or Channel Strip?

Hi All
 
I have been trying to learn how to mix properly in SONAR over the past 6 months or so and I have been pleased with my results and I am developing an effective "workflow"
 
I do have one question though...
 
Where and how should I be applying my EQ?
 
I use the SONTIUS EQ but it looks like I can apply the EQ withi this plugin via the FX BIN OR via the channel strip - where it will draw the eq shape in a little window in the track and console views
 
Which is the best method to use?
 
Although I am broadly getting the same results with each method I can think of subtle differences - e.g. you can change the order of fx in the FX Bin, you can copy the eq effect to another track in console view - but you can easily see the shape of the curve in the channel strip
 
Which method should I be using?
 
Is there any advantage to mixing the 2 methods (e.g. subtle eq in the FX Bin and then "shaping" EQ in the channel strip)?
 
What does everyone else use?
 
e.g. which method would you use to EQ you kick drum and bass guitar to ensure that they fit together and leave space for each other?
