EWQL Symphonic Choirs - trouble getting Wordbuilder working in Sonar 8.5

I got Symphonic Choirs yesterday and am trying to get it working with Sonar 8.5, but the instructions in the manual are insufficient. For example, it says to just add the VSTi and then the Wordbuilder plugin, but that way results in no sound - you need to pick a multi first, and that's not in that section of the manual. I have managed to get it generating sounds, but the results are very odd, so no doubt there is some other detail I've missed.

I have 3 choir instances, separate MIDI channels each with their own Wordbuilder and Play instance.

The first instance of the choirs, my Soprano line, performs the words correctly - but everything is one semitone too high.
The second and third instances of the choirs, my Tenors line and my Basses line, miss out various notes and perform seemingly random noises.

I've noticed a similar thread on this below (http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2268430) but I think I tried that step and it made no difference. Will go back and recheck however: but in the meantime, does anybody have any other suggestions?

Actually, I've figured out part of the problem - it's not so much that the Sopranos are one semitone too high with wordbuilder on, it's that they're one semitone too low with it off. Presumably this is intentional and is part of the way they implement multiple sounds within one instrument.

I managed to get the tenors working by transposing everything - apparently the wordbuilder there is working alright, but I must have played the original line while having a patch selected that was audible at that point, and when I changed it to the proper patch, the notes I played were now out of range.

As for bass, well, that just stopped making any sound at all! But then that might be Sonar - sometimes I find one of the soft synths stops working and I require a restart, which I'll be doing in a moment.

Kylotan, see my thread on the subject. I had the same problem. A friend on the Northern Sounds forum pointed me to the solution. It doesn't make a lot of sense, but read the manual section on the bottom of page 32 regarding "Starting A New WordBuilder Voice." When it says click on the column labelled "..." it refers to a thin strip in the "Voice" section of the WordBuilder view within play. As you probably know, from an instance of Play you click the "WordBuilder" tab (and then "Insert" the first time start a new instance). On the upper left of the Word Builder view is section with the heading "Voice." On the right side of the Voice section is the thin strip. You almost wouldn't notice it. I didn't.

Anyway, you click the "..." strip and it opens up a dialogue. When running within Play, the dialogue options are all ghosted except for the name of the Voice. Type a name into the field, then (I think) you click OK to return to WordBuilder. Voila! Everything sounds right. Don't ask me why, it just works. After being pointed to that solution, I was able to actually compose music with Symphonic Choirs for the first time without bizarre things happening.

Let me know if that works for you.
