No issues with sonar at all. Your pc has to be sufficiant in Ram because it loads its stuff to ram. 1.5 to 2 gigs is good

I just received my ezdrummer software today and installed it but when I try to insert it in cakewalk I don't see it as a plug-in. I installed ezdrummer in program files/cakewalk/vstplugin folder... i'm assuming that is the correct file to install it in. I tried both options as per the ezdrummer manual as stated below and I still can't seem to get it to work. Hope somebody can help.

The plugin will be installed by default in the appropriate location for the currently installed host program. You should however verify that this is the case and perform a custom install to change the destination target if this is not adequate for your host program (see your host manual for details).
The sounds themselves, as well as various resources, are installed by default in:
C:\Program Files\Toontrack\EZdrummer\Sounds\. You may choose to install in a different location but samples cannot be relocated at a later stage.

Somewhere in SHS6 there's the option to scan for new VSTs. You'll need to do this. After scanning, restart Home Studio and you should see it.

I'm still using Ghetto V.4XL, so I've got the separate VST adapter, but in 6 it's included...

The vst scan should be in your plugin manager if your version has one, just find it and make sure the scan properties is directed to your folder that EZD is located in

Look into buying an OEM version of Windows XP? I know in Canada you can buy them for around $100 at TigerDirect.ca.
