EZD & "Internal Error 2908" - FIXED

I've seen this alluded to here before but found nothing detailed. I'm at a loss about what to do and really don't want to reinstall Windows just to update EZD.

Unless you are a registered user at ezdrummer.com you cannot read this thread but would save time here if you are:
http://www.toontrack.com/forum/m.aspx?m=42612&mpage=1&key=

Bottome line: I only get this error when trying to load Toontrack products including EZDrummer, Cocktail, & Nashville EZX. I have not gotten the error on anything else including SPE6.2, P5, DP, Ozone 3, Adobe, Quicktime, etc.

Problem: I can skip all the errors (100s) and it seems to load and work fine. However, I cannot update to the most recent version which is required to use the latest EZXs like Nashville. The update seems to load fine but the ezdrummer.dll file remains the old version. Yes, it is in the right folder and No, there is no other instance of the .dll on my computer.

I have: updated all .NET Framework updates like has been suggested dilligently rebooting and cleaning registry between each update and install try and all this with EZD installed and without. I've used MS Windows Install Cleaning Utility as well but to no avail.

Anybody?????

You might want to send a PM to Mod Bod about this as he's got all the EZDrummer answers
Here's a LINK to his profile.

Prior to the fix below, I loaded EZD by skipping over all the "Internal Error 2908", loaded the update (which loaded fine but didn't update the .dll) and loaded Nashville EZX (which also caused the 2908 Error, which I ignored but, of course, it still wouldn't load in EZD because the .dll was not the current one).

After tying all the known fixes that have worked for some and rather than reload WinXP I simply copied the ezdrummer.dll from my other DAW which has the updated EZD .dll and replaced the one on my main DAW with the updated one. This seems to work fine and allowed me to load Nashville EZX - everything seems to work (but only time will tell).

Not a true fix but this seems to be a working alternative.

    Hi All,

I've spent time in getting this issue resolved on my DAW, but finally I could sort it out.

The error 2908 is occuring during component registration and is linked to the .Net framework. I tried to install the Windows Install Cleanup program and same issue: loads of 2908 errors.

I found this link that gives some steps to perform a clean uninstall of all .net frameworks versions.
What I did is uninstall all versions of .net framework (1.1, 2, 3) by the add/remove control panel, and after I downloaded the cleaning tool that Aaron Stebner (the author of the blog) recommends (tool here), ran it and finally I could install ezdrummer, update 1.11 and all expansion packs without any problem!

Hope it helps others to get the issue nailed down quicker

    Enjoy EZD, folks!

Hello Aaron, I am Johnny from hungary, please help me to install the ezdrummer, because I cannot download the cleaning tool anymore from your blog.
