I started watching that a few days ago but thanks for reminding me. I love that he writes that on a keyboards program. It makes sense though. If he did it on guitar it would be pretty easy to get in a rut a just start down stroking. Any body who writes knows that is one of the biggest problem, doing the same stuff and getting to the same place.

James, maybe you'd better get it now at Time+Space or BestService (in British Pounds). There are two Toontrack EZKeys sale offers ATM: - buy one instrument and get a free sound expansion; - buy any sound expansion at 20% off. So it depends on you already having EZKeys. If so, go for the second offer. Also, Time+Space still has a 10% coupon 0CTN3WS, active until Nov 15. BestService halloween coupons are gone, I believe.

Of course a great deal with EZ keys is the MIDI out so you can use the songwriting features with any VSTi of your choice. Worth bearing in mind if you already have a lot of keyboard sounds.

Exactly what I'm looking forward to! That said, I bought EZ Keys a long time ago but got the electrics and was so uninspired I never dig in. Between the Grand and the String Machines I think I will be plenty inspired.

It's too bad you started out with them they are easily the least inspiring of the lot. The pianet is real good but the Clav is just awful in the Retro Electrics. Worth $20 though. The Electric Grand is also very nice.

Good point, still have to decide on which of the three uprights to choose. I'm inclined to pass on the original one, but also on the newest Small Upright, as it has some key quirks and light bass that wouldn't let it shine on its own. So this would push me towards the Vintage one. Unless TT launches the ultimate upright next month. So I had a listen and found Vintage a bit thin sounding. Back to the Small Upright then, as it seems more musical, more rounded, yet with less resonance in the lower keys. I don't know, BD, should I really go for a Toontrack upright? As Glyn says, we can use the TT songwriting features with any other upright, including Sampletekk, XLN or that sweet Fluffy Audio one I have to get sometime soon. So there it is, cherishing two expansion serials and nothing to choose. String Machine maybe, lots of presets there. James to the rescue? If only Edith were here to help me.

I'm having some fun with the strings! I would tell you which one in particular but now I can't get a project to load. :/ Time to put the engineer hat back on. Also, I am not interested in any more expansions, but I want me some midi packs! :)

You should be able to get a six-pack nowadays for $60 max. Be careful, as you'll get addicted fast. For that Strings Machine, maybe start with the Strings & Keys pack.
