Anyone have the solo instruments (violin, cello, and harp)?  I have the Orchestra Gold and it sounds pretty decent, though I've not spent much time with Play and tweaking the sounds.   Just wonder if the solo instruments are worth it.

Sonar Platinum
Homebuilt  -  Gigabyte GA-170 HD3, Intel Core i7 6700k OC 4.5 GHz, Corsair Hydro H50 Cooling, 16 MB GSkills Ripjaw DDR4-2133, SanDisk Ultra II 960 Gb, NZXT-S340 Case, ASUS VE-278Q
Interfaces - Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 2nd Gen, MOTU Midi Express XT USB
Keyboard - Roland FA08 / Moog Slim Phatty / Nord A1R

They are worth it, particularly the Diamond versions, at 40 GB per instrument (except for the harp). Most importantly, they blend perfectly with Hollywood Orchestra, which is their main forte.

First of all - Thanks Larry!!

What do you guys think are the real plums from this offering. I thinking from reading Fleer that Hollywood Orchestra - any others that shouldn't be passed up on with this sale?  I do some sound-scape types of music, mainly guitar player/songwriter type.

Hi Dave, maybe Hollywood Orchestra and Solos are a bit too much for your type (as for me). You may be better served by Embertone Solo Strings (with ensemble mode) or possibly even the current Kirk Hunter sale offer, if you just need soundscape strings. Also have a look at those new Analog Strings from Output, or Albion V Tundra from Spitfire.

Hollywood Orchestra Silver editions are no slouch.  Probably easier to work with than Gold and above.  If you want to dabble in orchestra go with Silver or Orchestra Gold.

Something I've noticed with these EW sales is upgrades are pretty much pointless especially for individual sections. If I wanted more debt HO gold would be mine.  Meanwhile I'm building up my VSL arsenal with less than $40 per section or instrument.  To me out of the box both are apples and oranges.

I do love EW Hollywood Orchestra Diamond and Solo Cello/Violin. Huge libraries, but definitely the best for that Hollywood sound. And their Play player is running smoothly as of version 5, no complaints. VSL is a bit too clinical for me. Yet when I'm donning my intimate and songwriter cap, I'd go for neither.

Thanks Fleer - I checked out those sites (didn't know they existed). Great sounds. Now I'm more confused. Looking for great bang for the investments since I won't be playing them a lot. But when I do, I do want great sound. Help me narrow it down.

edit:

I found the offer and it looks great. I don't have Kontakt.   Hmm thinking of grabbing the Kirk Hunter and catching Kontakt on sale later on. Is that something that happens (Kontakt on sale)?

EW Spaces is fine, Zynaptiq Adaptiverb is breathtaking. But for rock and blues, try Valhalla VintageVerb. And for everything else, get FabFilter Pro-R. There. I said it.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the help - I ended up with Sonivox $1 & the expansion offer for $54. Then I picked up the Air Complete Expansion 3 for $62 with the group buy.

I think for my guitar centered work, this will be a fine start. Hopefully.

Btw - Larry is the deal King!!! Saving me a lot of $$$

Thanks Again!
