Echo Audiofire 12`s MIDI channel question(s)....

Allright...a bit of a novice here, but I could need some info regarding what goes where in my soundcard`s(AF12) two MIDI inputs. The stuff I`m about to connect are a standard MIDI controller, and my good old Roland JV 1010 synthesizer module. The AF12 has as mentioned 2 inputs(in and out), my controller 1 input and the JV 1010 has 3(in,out,thru). So my Q is basically....what goes where?

Anyone in here has any knowledge concerning this or MIDI connections in general?

It depends what you want, but this is probably what you want...
MIDI Controller out to JV1010 In -- makes the controller play the module
JV1010 out to AF12 in -- makes the AF receive MIDI from the module (which came form the controller)

If you want you're computer to play the JV1010 add...
    AF12 out to JV1010 in

If you want to record actual sounds of the module, you'll also need to record the output thru the analog lines out into the AF12 -- not just the midi. If you only want the MIDI and monitor with the module, disregard.

    Hope that helps

^^Thanx a bunch for the answer! Plugged in the module, and sounds popped up!

The way I intend to use the controller, is not only for the JV1010, but for my VST/softsynths as well. The JV1010 I`m planning on using as basically a "hardware" softsynth if you will....`plugged in and ready to use when I want to use it. I`m not planning to record the actual sounds, just the MIDI signals for it to play off.

But now that the JV1010 is placed properly..where do I place the controller? I`m thinking I`m one MIDI port short? ;-/
