Edirol Orchestral question.....

This softsynth is my favorite go to synth when doing orchestral sketches....great sounds, light footprint (much better than the TTS) imo.

Will the Edirol work on Sonar W7 64?

Thanks.

Yes it will.  I've had no problems with it.

I think you are right "they should work" and the great majority do.  Bitbridge (included in SONAR) does a good job mostly in the background.

The forum has many posts on the exceptional failures and some advise on possible workarounds.  The new plug-in options dialog under the plugin manager offers customized settings for each plug-in.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to even install Edirol Orchestral on my Windows 7 64-bit system.  When I do try to install a message comes up that says the program can't run on this version of windows.  After that when the option comes up I try to run under recommended settings and it looks like it's installing but then I get "cannot read registry key"   I would like to use it if there is some way to install it.  It is a useful synth.

Did you right click the install program and select Run As Administrator?

Yes, I ran the install as administrator. Not sure what else I could do to get it to install.

Are you trying to install the DXi version? Try installing the VSTi version. The VSTi version should work.

Yes, the VSTi version.  I wonder since it appears that others are able to use Edirol Orchestral synth in Win7 64 systems if maybe I just have a very old version of Edirol orchestral, from when it first came out.  I've had it since..hm, I can't remember.

Well, maybe your copy of Orchestral is an older copy. I think v1.01  and later are VSTi versions that work in X1 32/64bit and Windows 7 64bit versions.

I guess it would be helpful for others who have Orchestral working in X1 on Windows 64bit versions to say what version of Orchestral they have.

Thanks for your input.  I am giving up on it.  I tried runing the install in compatibility mode setting it to Windows XP and I get the same thing.  It looks like its installing, the install status bar goes all the way to the end and then I get "Cannot read registry Key."   Fortunately, I can get along without it.  But once in a while I miss not having its orchestral percussion set.

Roland/Cake should update this to a 64bit version and bundle it with Sonar X2 in place of TTS......
...should be a relatively easy programming update?

i agree..  the Edirol stuff was cheezy and dirty, but easy to mix. i actually bought DimPro back in the day, but alot of the patches were out of tune, or gussied up  with too much reverb.. that you couldnt take out.. i couldnt use it.  i have been 3rd party ever since.. the TTS1 is good for converting low-quality GM midi files in a hurry...Thank God for Kontakt.

Yea, and they should throw in Edirol Super Quartet to the SonarX2 bundle, which had some awesome electric and acoustic pianos.  That's another one I've tried installing on Windows7 64 with no luck.

Hi guys. I saw this topic few weeks ago as i had exactly the same problem. And today I found a solution on some Spanish website, so I've quickly registered to share it with you (translation by Google, but everything's clear): "Well, the solution is simple: create a registry key. For those who do not know, go to C: \ Windows and Execute the regedit. Watch out what you do there, eh? :D Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion and there cread a new REG_SZ value named ProductID and value 1. Bingo! now you can install or use. I tried to remove once installed and stops working. I tried not to put the 1 and tan. (The truth is that I put to test 1, and strain ...) I know that x64 W7 also give this symptom, and as I have not tested the solution, if you see that does not work Try to create the value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Wow6432Node \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion." Actually I've created those values in both localizations. Works perfectly for me on W7 x64. Enjoy!

I finally had the opportunity to install Edirol Orchestral VSTi 1.03 on my X1 daw (W7, 32 bit)...it "works" except for one major hiccup...Orchestral will not save any of my custom preset styles that I create in it.

I had a simple piano quintet style loaded, gave it a preset name, saved it...works so far.

When I close the cwp file, and open it again, Orchestral keeps loading the default style which is the Full Orchestra...i've tried various vsti property settings, but still no luck.

Closing the project and opening it again makes Edirol load the full orchestra style.

If anyone has solved this problem with Orchestral on X1 on W7 32 bit, I'd really apppreciate any info.

    Thanks :)

I have read somewhere on a Dutch forum you have to save it as System -> File -> Performance -> Save, and every time you load the plugin you have to load the saved file. Unfortunately I do not have Edirol Orchestral because it is not longer available (really a shame, because in the past I played with it and liked the sounds), so I cannot confirm this. Hope it helps tough...

Same problem here.  I used orchestral under a 32bit set up of Sonar 8.5 for years and got very dependent on it.  Then had a hard drive crash and reinstalled everything at 64bit.  now the vst version of orchestral loads and works (without banks, patches and being able to save setup per song) but the DXi version, though showing up in the "soft synth" list, refuses to load saying "Failed to insert soft synth.  The synth may not be properly installed."  I don't mind using the VSTi version if i can figure out how to make Sonar load the banks and patches as well.  Any thoughts?
