Edirol PCR 300 and Windows 8
Crap. Windows 8and Sonar are a great team - but I can't get the Edirol PCR-300 windows 7 driver to work. Has anyone been able to do this? Gavin

I have an Edirol PCR-500 and Windows 8, but, I'm also having problems where the driver will not install on Windows 8 (due to the installer checking the Windows version, I believe). I've bypassed the driver issue by using the MIDI interface instead of the USB. But, I have some background in installers (including driver installations) and will try to install the Windows 7 driver by some trickery. I'll keep you posted on my progress. In the meantime, if someone else has success, please post it here.

Use the Windows 8 driver for the A-PRO 300 instead: http://www.roland.com/support/article/?q=downloads&p=A-300PRO Edited to add: Do not use the included installer, it will not work. Update the driver manually in the device manager as described in my other reply to this thread. This will change the device name to "A-PRO" instead of "PCR", so you will have to edit midi input configuration in your software, but the mapping is straightforward: Before -> After Inputs: PCR 1 -> A-PRO 1 PCR 2 -> A-PRO 2 PCR MIDI IN -> A-PRO MIDI IN Outputs: PCR -> A-PRO PCR MIDI OUT -> A-PRO MIDI OUT Even the PCR Editor that came with the original PCR drivers (my Help/About... dialog says PCR Editor 2.10) works with the new driver after correcting the MIDI devices, so I did not bother with trying to use the A-PRO Editor. HTH!

For me, the A-PRO drivers are not working. I deleted the old drivers, unplugged the usb, installed the A-PRO drivers, but when the installer is asking to connect the cable, the installer won't go any further...

Oops, I forgot to mention that part - I did not use the installer, I updated the Driver directly from the Device Manager. Here's a Play-by-Play. PCR in Windows 8 Device Manager: Open Properties of the PCR device, choose Update Driver... Choose Browse my computer for driver software Choose "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" Simply choose Next here Choose Have Disk ... you do not need to wait for the list to populate Browse into the extracted zip archive directory as shown below and choose the RDIF1102 file. The driver zip archive contains drivers for both 32 bit and 64 bit, browse into the folder that matches your version of Windows 8. In my case, I chose the 64 bit version. Choose Ok Choose A-PRO from the list, then choose Next Confirm the Update Driver Warning with Yes Enjoy the great feeling of beating planned obsolescence and giving your PCR a new lease of life:
