Editing midi data. Also inserting Fantom VS soft synth

I hardly ever use the midi editing in X2, as I'm almost always working with audio files, so forgive my most likely basic questions. I can't figure out how to take a clip of midi information and delete all of a particular controller change, such as CC64 -pedal hold or CC1 - modulation. I can deal with them one at a time, but I can't figure out how to globally delete them, or change their value.
On another note, I've never even attempted to use the Fantom VS synth in my VS700R. The other day I decided to check it out and for the life of me, I couldn't even figure out how to insert it into track. I don't see it as an option in my Insert Soft Synth page of X2, which is where all my other soft synths are. Any help here? Does the Fantom VS even work in X2?

To delete all controllers, Select the clip(s), then Edit > Select by Filter, and uncheck Notes. That will leave everything else selected, and Delete will whack all the controllers, patch changes, sysx, etc. To delete individual controller types, you can set Min and Max values to affect a single controller or range or controllers.

For changing controllers, you can use Process > Find/Change (formerly Edit > Interpolate)  which uses the same Filter dialog to select what gets changed, and when you okay that dialog, gives you another where you set target values/ranges for whatever passes through the filter.

Using these methods for changing many events at once is kind of old school (been around since Cakewalk for DOS), and some find it awkward, but it's very powerful and flexible, and can do things that can't be done any other way.

For graphical editing, double-click the MIDI clip to open it in the Piano Roll View, enable Show/Hide Controller Pane in the View menu, and you can draw/edit/move/erase controllers there in lanes under the notes pane.

Can't help you with the Fantom VS. I gather its a hardware synth with a software interface, but I don't know how it's implemented.

Thanks Brundlefly! I'll give that a try. Hope you're not being affected by that terrible flooding going on up there.

Thanks, Audiodog. I used to live on Canyon Avenue which keeps getting hammered by flash floods from the Waldo Canyon burn scar - you've probably seen the spectacular video on the news. But we are now at the end of a cul de sac about 100 feet above Fountain Creek and well away from it with a wall of rock between us and the Garden of the Gods. So the only rain water we get is what falls in the immediate vicinity, which is plenty right now (pouring again as I write), but not causing us any real problems. The main thing we have to watch out for is getting stopped from getting home when the authorities close the roads into town from both East and West.
