I kid you not, this is the answer to my dreams. I'm working on a huge orchestral piece, and it was missing that "something" special... now I can go on to greatness. Did you try the demo? Is it just me, or is their "cowbell library " just the same sample played back at different rates? If this isn't a joke, then I feel pity for the poor bloke who hatched this idea.

LOL! I think it's serious! My favorite: Coming Soon! The Red Monkey(tm) VLC800, the world's first digital modelling cowbell! Onboard DSP accurately models 12 of the world's most sought after cowbells. Hold a world class cowbell collection in the palm of your hand! I didn't know there were 12 most sought after cowbells!

LOLOLOL The samples page does have more than one cowbell sample, but there are really only three distinct samples - the rest are duplicates of the first three! And if you click on the map to see where there are distributors, none of the states have any dealers. A clever farce, though.

ORIGINAL: RTGraham but there are really only three distinct samples - the rest are duplicates of the first three! Certain? My cursory observations led me to believe they were sampler re-pitchings of the same cowbell. This demands further research.

My cursory observations led me to believe they were sampler re-pitchings of the same cowbell. This demands further research. I think the Rad Monkey folks would find it hilarious that we're discussing this in such scrutiny, but here goes... The samples I listened to varied not only in pitch, but also in harmonic content and decay, in a way that differs from just a simple re-pitching. It's remotely possible that they are all from the same source, just edited, but somewhat unlikely; it would have been easier to just sample three different cowbells (or find three different samples). I have a feeling someone's laughing at me for explaining that so seriously.

I want to see time-spectrum waterfall plots, x-y cross-correlation analysis plots, and pitch-corrected nulling before I'll be convinced that this cowbell library is the real deal.

Y'all are being way too silly about this. After all, what else would provide the percussion for those "air guitar" contests? Jeez, the things I have to explain to other people... Tio Ed Austin, TX Land O' 10,000 Guitarists

That is fantastic - a piss take, I'm certain - but a brilliant one... Classy.

ORIGINAL: mildew http://www.radmonkeycowbells.com/ is this a joke or what? m I don't think I could ever learn to play that thing, it looks too complicated. It might be easier then a real one but still over my head. I hope it's avaiable as a software synth with some built in MIDI patterns. That being said they guy needs to make a wireless version that can be used as a midi controller. After all the one thing that every cowbell artist enjoys is dancing around stage with the thing, having a cable connected will never do.
