    Hallo cryo

slightly different style this one! it has a more 80s vibe to the synths and tune, which is cool. I think the vox have too much verb/delay on them, you lose the clarity of the words, otherwise damn good!!

sounds cool. Though the beat doesn't properly establish itself for the first bunch of measures...
Like the lead sound at 2:50.
Vocal could use some "distant presence", if yo know what I mean. A hair back in the mix, but with more fullness.

    This is very cool Dave

An all round top job, as the other guys have said, a little more clarity in the vox would make this a killer.

Still gets 5 stars from me though

Its a pleasure to hear your work, and really hard to think of any suggestions...maybe you don't want any , but anyways :-) 3 things came to mind: I wonder if a tad less hihat level through out, because do the pitches cover her vocals? , how about about a small snare fill going into the second verse, lastly what about considering a slight db boost on vocals at the "I'm reacting...." seems very static vocally and might emphasize that shes actually reacting at this point. Thanks for sharing. Ara www.aratunes.us

    dave,

how do you get the external player on your myspace? i am looking for something like that to play my songs at higher quality.

Great tune btw. How do you network with all the vocalists? I am trying to do some similar stuff, so any advice is welcome!

Thanks everybody! I/we appreciate all the listens, compliments, and suggestions!

I'll play around with the reverb/vox balance to clear up the vox a bit, although I really like the contrast of the spacious vocal reverbs/delay against the staccato/driving rhythms. I'm thinking that maybe it just needs more predelay in the reverb to separate the vocal attack from the reverb (?) I'll try it out.

Good suggestions ara - I'll definitely be making those changes.

    Hi dudemanjch,

I found the mp3 player by just googling something like "Flash myspace mp3 player". If you know your way around Flash, you can make one pretty easily. It's an XML-based player that reads the playlist from an XML file, but you need your own server/webspace to store the player, the playlist, and your mp3s. Then you just embed it in your myspace code.

I've found all of the singers through craigslist, either by placing my own ads or by responding to theirs. I've been pretty fortunate that I've found so many talented and lovely singers/songwriters, but I've also had to deal with countless flakes, wannabes, etc. in doing so. But, it's definitely been worth the hassle.

You find singers on Craigslist? Well, you learn something every day! lol. I don't listen to this genre very often, but I like this. The mix sounds good to me. Great groove!

One hot babe... AGAIN! What must it be like to be you....?

And another dance hit! I may could hear her voice just a little better in this mix? I like her singing, but when she looks like that? Really, who cares? Again, mix her up a bit (weence).

How do you "move" those synths? The filters? through the ooOOOOooooaaaaAAAAAaaaaa those are filters right? Are you using sliders? A plug?

When I started this song playing, I saw, out of the corner of my eye, on the other side of the living room (I am at my DAW) Sophie start to chair dance while doing work on her macbook.

    nuff said.

fantastic club song! her voice is so good, and I like the melody in this one! great synth work! the reverb, especially on her voice, sounds amazing- deep and long. I turned this one up! thanks for comments on In My Head!

Very good and sounded well balanced on my monitors. I think I like the contrast of the verb'd out vocal to the more stacatto music. That was something I noticed right away but I liked that it snakes around through the mix with that effect.

    Take care,

The kick accents works very well with the vocal in the verses (follows with the vocal part perfectly) and works well in the breaks/brdges, but in the choruses the beat needs to plain-out a little (needs to flow, try a Trance beat) this will also give the song a refreshing change in the choruses.

Overall the performances and arrangements are very well done! The vocal needs to be a little more upfront in the mix.

This is a really great song! Strong hooks n melodies although it could be stronger with additional harmonies in the chorus.

Ok here goes . . . firstly it is a good tune, lovely voice (and yes bring further forward into the mix please) and great production.

IMO as a "background" tune to hum along to and nod your head/tap your feet it is got everything it needs and it is easy to get lost in the groove.

As a purely "listening to" tune I would have liked to hear more variation in the arrangement. I might have brought the lovely synth lead forward by about a minute, and added a few rhythm changes/bits to make you sit up and go "what was that"

First off, thanks for all the listens and comments! Second, I did make some changes to the song, most of which are pretty subtle (added some fills, brought the vocals up, tweaked reverb/delay settings). I tried some other variations in the drums (e.g., SongCraft's 4/floor trance drum pattern suggestion during the chorus), but they really just broke up the flow of the song and felt out of place. But, I think the general idea of varying the patterns more dramatically is definitely valid - there is actually a LOT of variation in the drums as it is now (15 different hi-hat, snare, and percussion combinations), but they're pretty subtle and if you're not listening very closely, you probably wouldn't even notice it.

Hey robby - yeah, I programmed that arp sound to open up the envelope and the cutoff frequency on the filter by using the mod wheel, so that when I open up the mod wheel, the sound goes from a staccato pluck to a longer and buzzier sounding one.

Increadibly clean and professional sounding as far as I can tell. I always get very sad of this type of music though and did this time as well so genre-wise I's say you've nailed it

Vox could maybe go up just a tad in the beginning of the verse at approx 1:49 with automation for a little impact and "hey here's verse two". Apart from that it was just excellent.

Sadly very reduced studio equipment as it is... ASUS G750J, 8 gb RAM, Win8, Roland Quad Capture.
