Elegant Universe
I wrote this song in 2008, and recorded it with the equipment I had at the time, using Cakewalk Home Studio. I always wanted to re-record it when my situation improved, and this is that recording. Give it a listen and let me know what you think. https://soundcloud.com/user-660553900/elegant-universe-revisited

Pleasant enough track, mix sounds pretty solid here and balanced. Thanks for sharing.

I like this Tim. The guitars remind me of The Cure or Psychedelic Furs (which is great stuff in my book). Mixwise, I would like to hear less of the snare and drop the vocals a tiny bit but that's all personal taste. Good stuff.

Really nice song here Tim! I think Daryl is right that the snare is too big, especially relative to the other instruments. I would also suggest getting some of that snare tail out as it takes up a lot of space in the mix. I'd like the guitars up more as well. Reminds me of something that The Fixx might have done back in the day. Regards, Dan

Thanks for giving it a listen Dan, and I'm glad you liked it. The critique is much appreciated as well. It's exactly what I was looking for in trying to improve this particular song. Edit: Also, I still listen to the Fixx occasionally... it must've had more of an effect than I realized.

Did you post this a while back? Or am I deja vuuing? Cool tune . . . Rush-like, roll the bones territory . . . good stuff! I think I'd drop the snare a little as well. cheers, -Tom

I posted this song back in August. I appreciate the feedback. I've actually toned the snare down a bit as you guys suggested. I'll post a link later.

Sounds pretty good to me. Like Neil Young meets The Police. Everything sounds pretty balanced to me. Nice hook and the verses are interesting enough to keep you listening. Super job.

Thanks Manny! I get a lot of Neil Young comparisons. Funny, I never thought about it until I started getting feedback on some of my songs.
