Eletronica contest upload site now up.
Ok folks first off sorry for any delay in getting this set up, however there has been a lot of activity going on behind the scenes.
However after a lot of assistance from Petteri I’m now glad to say we’re in a position to be able to announce the beginning of phase one of the contest.
Petteri has kindly donated web space where contestants can upload their contest entries.
Check contest rules and guidelines for
entries here.
It’s a FTP site (details below) and
as of now it will only be possible to upload content to this site but not view other entries. It will remain this way until after the close of the contest deadline for entry FEB 28th 2005, after which all entries will be renamed to ensure anonymity and handed to the judges who will thin out the group to leave a number of finalists (the amount of finalist depends on the amount of entries)
At this point the finalists will be made public and a location will be made available for all forum users to be able to hear and vote on each of the finalist, selecting one overall winner.
How to upload a song :
For all already familiar with using FTP sites here is the address etc.
Address: ftp.badloop.com
port: 21
username:
compo@badloop.com password: cakewalk
For those of us new to all this below are some outlines of what’s required:
First you need to obtain yourself a FTP client such as smartFTP which offers a free 30 days trial from
www.smartftp.com install smartftp, selecting "typical" setup from the options available.
Press finish and run smartftp.
You will see a window split into 2 panels. An ftp browser and a queue panel.
You can close the queue panel as its not needed for now.
Top left you will see a "address" slot. Type in ftp.badloop.com
Next you see a slot titled login... type
compo@badloop.com Then in the password slot... type cakewalk
Make sure the port slot says 21.
When you’re done typing just press enter on one of the above slots and you will automatically connect to this directory.
For the time being you won’t be able to see any other uploaded files there as the permissions are set to that.
Now in smartFTP open a "local folder bar" from "view - toolbars" and then you will have windows exploder like interface where you can just drag and drop the song onto the "empty" dir on the right (by default)
after the song is sent (you can check this by the "log" window on the bottom of the screen), you can just quit smartFTP.
And Bob’s your illegitimate father, you’re done.
a couple of extra notes:
PLEASE though we are asking entrants
not to disclose the identity of thier song so that people vote for the music not the musician.
However please feel free to let us know you've uploaded an entry
and enjoy the experience hopefully it will inspire some more conversations regarding this genre over here from time to time.
many thanks
from the the contest crew.
