Embertone Cello and Violin broken in X3 ? [Solved]
Hi folks, just wondering if anyone else has the Embertone Blakus Cello or Friedlander Violins running under X3d ?. I just purchased the Cello, loaded it into X3 and ... poof, mangled GUI and no sound. So, I loaded the Friedlander Violin ... poof, exactly the same, mangled GUI, not responsive to any GUI or MIDI input. It looks like elements from all the Instrument pages "Main/Configure/Control" in Kontakt, are stacked on top of each other ... and nothing works at all. Now, I'm on the latest versions of everything (Kontakt 5 too) and everything works perfectly outside of X3d. - Kontakt 5 standalone, works perfectly. - Sonar X2 - works perfectly. - Sonar X1 - works OK. - Sonar X3 ... looks quirky, no worky. Anyone else either have them working ... or not ?. Cheers - Cliff

I have both and both work perfectly in X3d running Kontakt 5.3 on Win7. Sorry not much help but at least you know they do work.

X3D is by far the most stable Sonar I've used and I've been with Cakewalk 15 years +. As for Kontakt, no problems at all it's my go to instrument host and works ver well inside Sonar.

Thank you guys, it's always VERY helpful to know that things are working for others. And so that news kept me looking, and here's what I found ... quite surprising too :-) I was quite certain that I had the Friedlander Violin in a project I've worked on in X3 ... found that project anc checked it out ... all working fine. However, I know that particular project was started in X2. Now that led me to thinking I had made some changes to my x3 "Normal Template". I had a look in the "Project Templates" folder, and found there was a file "Normal.cwt.assets". Assets file for my normal template ... so I deleted that .assets file and "Hey Presto", everything is back to normal. I was a bit surprised by that one, but pleased it was a simple fix :-) Thanks again guys for the confirmations. Cheers - Cliff

The .assets file is used by Sonar when uploading files to Gobbler. If you're not use that service you can freely delete the assets file but it will be recreated the next time you save the project as far as I know. There is a check box within Preferences where you can turn that feature off. I'm still unsure as to why the .assets file would have any effect on a project. A point to keep in mind though is that Cakewalk fully intend the .asset file for further use in the future beyond its current use so be on the look out for that with newer Sonar versions.

Ahh yes, .assets files save with your "Project files (.cwp), but this was my Normal.cwt (Project Template). Seems it saved a .assets file when I customized my template, and it definitely had some kind of hiccup. None of the other template files have a matching .assets file. Cheers - Cliff
