Emergency interfaces

Good morning everyone. At the present time I'm using the Roland V 700 system which I really like it a lot. Yesterday my computer updated to Windows 10 over a reasonably long period of time. When it came back up there are no audio devices and it can't seem to find the altered drivers that were working the day before. I see all three of the Roland devices in device manager with the yellow triangle.

Anyway if I really needed to track before I can get this resolved could I just use a Roland Duo capture or another similar audio interface with USB and Midi and just mix with the mouse for the time being?
I do not need multiple inputs but I do need MIDI.

I do own a new focusrite Isa solo but without the digital card. I love the sound of this unit and I assume I could plug it into the interface?

Thank you.

The Roland Hacked drivers for Win 10 work for some, not for others (Worked for me with my PCR500 initially in Win 10 but not after the Anniversary update).

However, you can give the procedure in this forum post a try and see if you can get it going.

And fire, did you go in and disable the driver signing after the anniversary update and did it work?

Yes, I went through the Driver Singing and other things trying to get it to work.  Nothing seemed to work.
As I noted on the other thread, I rarely used the unit so I wasn't too disappointed or didn't dig deeper to see if I could come up with a solution.

Thanks. Well I will be very disappointed if we can't get it operating again since I use it all the time. I'm sure I can purchase another control surface and audio interface.
As I said I have the focusrite ISA and it sounds great and I only use 1 input at the time so I don't need 8. As for the control service I like having faders a few buttons for save, undo etcetera.
Most everything else I use the mouse for anyway.
I'm somewhat hesitant to purchase another Roland product because I think they've kind of screwed me over on this stuff but...

Roll back Windows if it's crippling your system,, The OS is not important to a DAW but compatibility is paramount.
W10  has been a train wreck for a few computers in my life. I nuked it on a friends laptop and installed W7 again and all is good for now. He lost his Camera, card reader, DVD drive etc. No Windows 10 drivers.
You can't buy 8.1. But you could use system restore to roll back to last month before the update.

Well we did a clean install when I put in Windows 10. I suppose I could purchase a copy of 8.1.
I kind of dread another clean install...

Just for the record I went through the steps to disable the signed driver Bugaboo restarted and tried to update the drivers to no avail.

    Steve,

We've all been thru this with the 1607 win 10 anniversary update (see here) as the 1607 update sort of invalidates audio interface drivers and requires reinstalling them.

So for the VS-700 you need to uninstall the driver, reboot (which it'll do anyway), then do all the driver signing off magic, reinstall the modified installer for win10...

Check the link in this post for additional info or PM me in case you need access to the moded drivers.

Thanks Rob. I will uninstall the drivers today and reboot using the disable sign drivers thing again. Then I'll try to reinstall the drivers. I'm not exactly sure where they are but update should work correct?

Good morning and thank you. I downloaded the zip file and uninstalled the three vs 700 devices listed in device manager. Open the 64-bit drivers click setup can I get a dialog box saying it can't be completed and to perform the uninstall. I click that and the computer restarts. There is no listing of the V 700 devices in device manager now.
I go back to the driver folder and try set up again and get the same message about uninstall which I've done three times now.
    Thank you. Any ideas?

huhhh. difficult one. did you do the uninstall and run the setup.exe with the VS700 switched off?

really weird, though, i managed to install it before and after the win10 anniversary update without any problems using these files

Actually both. I've done it a few times some with the USB completely unplugged. At that point the devices don't show up in device manager. I run the setup and get the same error message then when I plug the USB back in the device has shown up but still with the yellow triangle.

    Hi Steve,

You have the original backup image file that we created.
You can reload from that, follow the install procedure used to get the VS700 working... and then skip the anniversary update from Win10.

This is one obvious example of why you want to create and keep an up-to-date backup image file of your boot drive.
Things like this can happen over time... and it's a quick/easy way to remedy the situation.

I'm available if you need assistance.

    Best Regards,
