Always loved this song, Weller in a rare romantic mood. Lovely version Daryl, your voice suits this to a tee.

Sounds well here, perhaps the vox is a little forward but that could just be my furry control room, very bright and airy. Nicely done Mr Daryl

James - thanks mate - it's one of my faves of all time. It means a lot to me being here in the US too - the song can be read as being all about being away from England rather than a girl (maybe I'm pointing out the obvious). Any road up, cheers.

Well Done! It just got better and better as the song progressed. I don't like disagreeing with the Wookie, but I liked the vocals right up front where I can hear 'em. I haven't heard your previous post of this tune but this one works very well indeed.

Daryl,
Very nice. I have never heard this song either and I liked it a lot; very well crafted. Excellent use of delay though out this track.

Staypress As an old original Jam fan it is a delight to hear this wonderful song again. Your interpretation is very touching… Here is what I like: The (what sounds like) double tracked vocals that come in at 1:12 – nice The dramatic uplift at 1:53.some nice instrumentation there and lifts the whole feeling up nicely along with the key step… love that..is that a timpani in there? what else is in there and what did you use? The backing instrument drop out at 2:27…very effective…adds a nice dramatic touch… 2:23 – the mournful, lonesome piano onwards….with the string backing.....lovely… again - what did you use for this? It is very interesting to hear your work on this as this is a song I know so well…ingrained since I first heard it on All Mod Cons more than 30 years ago….. Personal thought…as some others have mentioned – I think the vocals a little bit further back in the mix would may add to the mournful, longing feeling….maybe a little more reverb, echo, whatever to add some wistfulness…. And maybe a little more sustain (or reverb?) on some of the ending notes on the keys at the end of some of the measures However, as you may have guessed I am just a newcomer to this stuff and … hey….what do I know! Really nice work and as I say….to hear your version of this really made an old mod glow inside…. Peace man and thanks for sharing it…
