Entertaining books or videos about making music?

Do any of you remember that Digi 001 / ProTools promotional video? There's a guy in his [really cool] house with his band mates and they're talking about the Digi 001 and ProTools... and meanwhile they're building up a song from scratch. And slipping in lots of jokes...

I've watched that video like 3 times, even though it's ancient and I don't have either the Digi 001 or ProTools.

The reason I like it is it's FUN to watch. The main host is charismatic and self-deprecating and funny (in a slightly effeminate sort of way).

Anyway, I'd love to find a book or video which has a similar "feel". Where the emphasis is on being entertaining, funny, and personal rather than simply informative.

You know, kinda like Bill Bryson's A Walk in the Wild, which talks about his very amateurish trip up the Appalachian Trail. Not the most informative read, but very fun!

Recommendations?

The Gearwire videos are entertaining, irreverent and informative.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Any more videos along those lines, preferably focusing on end-to-end song creation? I'd love to see some tutorials of people assembling songs!
