Envelope type change by SONAR - is this bug or feature?

Problem:
- Create Envelope.
- Set some points.
- Make envelope "Jump" type
- Move node/envelope

SONAR changes the moved node type always to "Linear".
I sent a problem report but CW responded it's "by design". I'm not sure if they understood my explanation or tried this themselves. I don't find this is intuitive but what about you; is this behaviour bug or feature in your opinion?

I agree it seems a strange thing to happen "by design".

Having said that I don't see that behaviour at all. If I move an envelope and/or nodes set to jump they stay set to jump.

8.5 does it, too. Insert a new node into a Jump segment and one side turns into a Linear segment.

I think it's because Linear is the default for a new envelope segment, and when you insert a new node you're automatically creating a new segment. Although it would make more sense for the new segment to take on the attributes of the previously-selected segment. Seems like it would be an easy mod.

What I'd really like is for the default segment type to be user-configurable. I use far more jumps than other types. While I'm wishing, wouldn't an "S" type curve be a handy option, too?

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I find S curves really useful Bit.

If I ever need one, I set up one using a combo of fast & slow curves
