Envelopes not responding in Sonar X1 Producer

I have created a volume envelope an audio track and set nodes. However, when the track plays it is not responding to the changes in the envelope, no raise in volume, no drop in drop between nodes. I see the volume changes in the volume meter of the track, but I hear no changes. What am I missing? Thanks, Mike

Make sure "R" is selected on the track, as it enabled automation-reading. It's right next to the "W" for automation-write enable.
