Eponymous Album and Song?
I'm just sat here watching Classic Albums on BBC4 - tonights edition features Black Sabbath's Paranoid. It got me thinking about their eponymous first album, and the fact that it also has a track on it by the same name. There are loads of eponymous albums, but there can't be many that also have an eponymous track on the same album. I've only come up with these: - Angel Witch
- Black Sabbath
- Iron Maiden
- Motörhead
Any more?
PS - For anyone who hasn't seen them, the next two programmes on BBC4 tonight are Heavy Metal Brittania (10.00pm; repeated at 1.50am) and Anvil! The Story Of Anvil (11.30pm). The 'Paranoid' Classic Album programme is repeated at 12.50am.

I was on the same lines with Rainbow: (Ritchie Blackmore's) Rainbow (band) - (Ritchie Blackmore's) Rainbow (album) - Catch The Rainbow (song)

how about anti-eponymous(?!) albums and songs: Houses of the Holy (song) is on Physical Graphiti (album), but not Houses of the Holy (album) Sheer Heart Attack (song) is on News of the World (album), but not on Sheer Heart Attack (album) I just can't seem to follow the rules lately...

And that one has both "Discipline" and "Indiscipline" on it.

In general eponymous is one something that's named after something else. Strummy, are we talking song--album--AND--band? Does "In The Court Of The Crimson King" even though King Crimson isn't exactly the same as the album/song? So, I'm guessing that "All The Young Dudes" wouldn't count because Mott The Hoople isn't the same as the album/song.

Aww..if only we'd done a cover of Tull's ' Slow Marching Band' on our first album! Best I can come up with is Talk Talk by Talk Talk but the album was called The Party's Over. Oi'm finking... Edit - - 'Living in a Box' had a single by the same name, on their self-titled album! Yay!

Ok, I think I got it … it would be like if George Forman’s children who are all named George had the name George tattooed on themselves. Band / Song / Album Fleetwood Mac / Fleetwood Mac / The Original Fleetwood Mack (1971 w/ Peter Green) War / War Drums / War (1971) Gov’t Mule / Mule / Gov’t Mule (1995) ... not exactly what you are looking for but close.

Hi, This is not fun for me, because I don't listen to songs per se ... and I have very few albums because of a song, or two in them! In terms of massive song name/album here is a small list from mine. Solar Musik - Grobeschnitt (and/or Solar Musik Live) Remember the Future - Nektar Tarkus - Emerson Lake and Palmer Iron Butterfly - In a Gadda Da Vida Vehicle - Ides of March The Gypsies - Carmen Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick Ange - Caricatures See See the Sun - Kayak The Hamburger Concerto - Focus That should get us going, I think ... I hope I got these right. Most of the pop music stuff did not have a lot of interest for me, and I really thought that Black Sabbath was not that good, or original, but the name was perfect for advertising and fame. If it had a different name no one would give a damn!
As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!

OK, just to be opaque.. does it have to be the same name of album and song or same name artist and song or same name artist, album, and song ?? Forgive my ignorance. Edjucimate me... If it is Album and Song there are plenty, it artist not so many, if all three, well... J
