Equinox Sounds has released 'Jazz Funk Breaks', a downloadable sample  pack of of 10 stylish Construction Kits with arranged breaks and  turnarounds. With consistency of key and BPM throughout this collection,  it offers producers of Breakbeat, Hip Hop, Electric Jazz and other genres a powerful versatility and creative control. These  kits are available in ACID/WAV and Apple Loops formats.

'Jazz Funk Breaks' consists of 10 Construction Kits, each kit is  provided with the BPM/Key information and presented with a full mix and  it's component parts and represents a musical idea or groove to be used  as a foundation for a musical work. They can be mixed and matched to form songs, or chopped and screwed for effective,  soulful Hip-Hop samples.

Each Construction Kit contains a folder featuring the deconstructed drum  kit (kick, snare, hat, perc…) for a 4-bar groove plus a 1-bar fill  (also includes a mixed version of groove and fill) and another folder  with the component loops (bass, guitar and a classic Rhodes keyboard).

Each filename includes the Construction Kit number, BPM and key information for the loop.

These loops can be used together to create complete tracks or they can  be used individually to serve as a foundation. Alternatively, you can  use these flavours to embellish your existing tracks.

This collection is suitable for styles such as Breaks, Funk, Hip-Hop, Jazz, etc...

    'Real' Jazz Funk in minutes all for $30.

    You have a complaint with that?

    I'm not against canned loops or construction kits and actually own some.

    Sometimes they've kicked off an idea I've been drawn toward by them and then developed from there.

    Other times some single instrumental element will be useful in something else.

    I own one that features Hammond loops played by a dear musician freind who passed away in sad circumstances and it's nice just to 'have him around' in some minor way.

    Mostly they don't get much use though merely because the process of auditioning and searching for the right 'phrase' is far more trouble than just creating it from scratch.

    All in all they have their uses for me, I'm sure others utilize them in many other ways.

    I'm trying to make the coffee house a better place by bringing music related news to everyone's attention.

    I use them to see/hear what arrangements might work in my own pieces sometimes....and Equinox does make some fine sets...
