Erratic Scrolling and Other Bad Behavior

I just replace my Core i5 with an i7.  Immediately after that, I noticed that Sonar X2 Producer would no longer scroll smoothly.  For example, in the staff view, the playback line will smoothly track playback for a few measures, then halt for a couple of beats, then jump ahead and move smoothly again, repeating this pattern through the end of the piece.  The playback line in the track view follows the same herky-jerky behavior.   In the same vein, I have noticed that Sonar now has delayed responses to mouse clicks; for example, if I click on the stop button, it may play for a beat or two before actually stopping.  This does not appear to be a scroll-lock problem.  I don't see similar behavior in other applications (for example Sibelius).

Any suggestions for a cure?

thx

Pete

Try hitting the pause key on your keyboard.

    Hi John:

I have tried that; it doesn't help.

    Single or multiple projects?
Update your audio interface firmware and drivers.
    Update your display drivers.
Check CPU min/Max in advance power settings.
    Try deleting AUD.INI.

    Cheers..

    Hi Dok:

    It affects multiple projects.
    I have updated all drivers.
I don't understand the comment about power settings; for what it's worth, I have a desktop computer, not a laptop.
    There is no aud.ini file.
I have also fiddled with various config settings and deleted a bunch of stuff from start-up.  The problem persists and I'm growing pretty frustrated.

Google 'site:forum.cakewalk.com delete aud.ini' for instructions

    And check this...

    http://isboxer.com/wiki/H..._Throttling_in_Windows

Also try going into Sonar preferences and disabling arm record monitoring during playback..
    https://www.cakewalk.com/...help=Recording.15.html

Done a virus scan recently? After that try temp disabling your virus scanner.

Perhaps try updating your BIOS and chipset drivers.

Otherwise download a copy of latencymon I suggest.

Does your project contain tempo changes? I have a stuttering and jerky timeline if the project contains many small tempo changes. I just live with it but it can be fixed by enabling AudioSnap on the audio tracks in the project.

I have seen other posts about tempo changes and scrolling, but I myself have not seen that - I have a pretty sizable project that also happens to have a boat load of meter changes, and it doesn't seem to do anything to the scrolling at all for me - I DO have an i7 processor and 32 GB of memory though...

Did you clear out the Picture Cache folder?  (Sonar will rebuild it as needed, and some folks have reported that this, for them, was a pretty much instant fix).
