Everything (Original Song)
Hey all! My second record, 'When The Sky Falls In', is due for release May 20th 2011. The record is currently in mastering but I thought I'd give the world a bit of a sneak peak ;) After remixing every track on the record right before sending it to mastering, the music now sounds crisper, harder hitting, and most importantly, better. I hope you like that track :) And hopefully you'll like the record when it hits physical and digital platforms this May 20th. Many thanks Mike Everything by Mike White Written, Performed, Produced, Engineered and Mixed by Mike White Mastered by Donald Mohr All music and lyrics copyright to Mike White 2011.

MikeTSH, I enjoyed listening to "Everything". The mix to my ears sounded balanced. I felt that some de-essing could be done on the vocals, as well as trying to get a more dynamic performance from the vocalist. What I mean is, there are places that if the vocalist pushed his voice instead of just letting it come out as normal, it could add some added dymamics to the song, which I think could be good, Overall a very good song and mix. My thoughts on this work ate just that. My thoughts.

I'm really impressed with this. Awesome job! Great song, great vox, great arrangement. You have reason to be proud and if promoted properly it should do really well. Pete

Cheers. The album is being mastered as we speak! I can't wait to get them back, send the PMCD to the duplication plant and get this record out there!

sounds pretty professional to me! vocals are upfront where they need to be in this pop-punk genre. is that really 'gotta find an erection running wild and free' in the lyrics though?! the only nit for me was the cymbal in the left ear got a bit annoying after a while. rest of performance is top-notch. this is the sorta thing huge in the US, good luck!

Cute. Some of the tracks are crossing over so glad to hear it's being mastered. Love your chorus right before the hook. The 'brain' line. Luv it!

Nice driving song! I would like to hear it mastered, because it seems the kick and bass guitar is so compressed and sounds tiny in my Tannoy 6.5 nearfields, and they "should" be punching me in the chest. I know fidelity can be lost in the WAVE-to-MP3 translation too. Otherwise everything sounds really good... especially the musical instrument arrangement. For some reason I hear this song's lyrics (message) being gender swapped, and sung by a female. Or, it seems like your voice wants/needs to sing in a higher register...possibly changing the key to where you can sing harder. BUT this can change ther personality of the song altogether. Either way EXCELLENT job on this!

Hey, thanks for your input. Obviously because it's pre mastering it's more about the song itself than the recording thus far. Glad you like it! @mgh - I knew that'd come up! It's "Gotta find a direction, running wild and free". I've become a major fan of LRC mixing (as hard left, center and right as possible for separation) but in mastering we've been fixing it to be a bit more balanced. @krsongs a lot of the punch is lost in me just sticking a limiter on the whole thing - in mastering obviously multiband eq's and compressers are used so it'll have a ton of space and punch whilst being massive.

I always enjoy the stuff that you put on this forum. To my ears this has that great driving sound of some of the early new wave/power pop stuff but with a nice updated feel to it. Great vox performance (doesn't sound like Billie Joe Armstrong this time), nice mellody, and it has great hook. Excellent! Freddy J

The song is a ballad anthem sung in English by Anna Vissi, who is an artist based in Greece and his native Cyprus, which represented the two countries earlier this competition. All "was performed sixteenth on the night. Exceptionally, especially compared with the other contest entries, it was performed solo by Vissi without the presence of singers or dancers. Lyrically the song deals emotions conflict Vissi on end a relationship. She sings that she is "still in love with everything I hate."

This is cool. I like this. I like the vocals. I like the mix. I like the accents. I like the tone. I like the lyrics. I like the chorus a lot, nice hook. It sounds a lot like a John Mayer tune, not like John, just like one of his songs. This is fun. Summary. I like this a bunch, it's different from what I generally hear on the forum, it's refreshing. I wish I could write music like THIS! (well and play it too...it would be a little hard to pull of on a keyboard!) lol Now this is fun, definitely upbeat and just sounds great all around. I could use a long play-list of this type of song. This is better than caffeine. :-) Good luck on the CD. It should do great!! :-)

Really nice one, man! Nice song, good performance, well produced. Sounds good on my crap speakers, which is always a good sign it's right. Maybe I'm just hearing things, but it sounded like there were a few instances of auto-tune usage on the vocal that might be done more subtly?

The fairly heavy handed autotune was purposeful for this production - a lot of bands similar to my style are acts like All Time Low, Fallout Boy and Green Day - listen to one All Time Low song and then tell me my autotune's heavy handed :P

I've never heard one of your tunes before and this really sounded great.... my only nit was there were a few spots I closed my eyes cause I was afraid I would get spit on by the singer!..... but that would not have been the first time......and what the heck....Auto tune is EVERYWHERE so for me it was fine! but then again.....that is just MY opinion... nice job Clifford
