Everything works fine except me

This is my first post. I never thought I'd be a newbie. I used to design and build synths and effects back in the 70s, for some of the big bands of the time. I wanted to get back into this in my dotage, so I bought X1 Essential, an Alesis QX49, and a UA1G. And Z3TA 2.1 s/w. I'm running on a Dell laptop with XP, which I know ain't perfect, but it's what I've got. Anyway, the hardware and software work fine (except for the odd soft crash, which I think is a memory issue).

I'm still playing, so I don't have a project in mind. I'm just trying to learn what I can and can't do. There's something I know I should be able to do, but I can't figure out how. I hope somebody out there can help. I'm sure I'm just missing some basic principle(s), but can't find help in the (HUUUUUUGE) manual.

First off, let's take the "italo" arpeggio that comes with Z3TA. How do I make that fire once, i.e. play to the end and then stop?

Secondly, how can I tie that to a pad on my QX49? In other words, I can be playing along in some other synth (on a different midi channel - I got that far :-), then hit P1 and get my one-time arpeggio to play.

Doesn't seem like such a big deal, does it?

    Hi Jay,

I'm not a huge synth user so there may be a better way than this, but one way I can think of is to use the matrix in X1. You can load patterns etc into it and trigger them at will. There are options to just trigger once or continuously loop. That may be a start anyway - good luck.
