I've had trouble getting it to not overplay. I have just been trying to play drums myself. Slowly getting there.

If you play around with the power knob that should help JS "backoff" a bit. You can even automate the knob so it backs off automatically in the verses and rides a little harder in the choruses. See my site for the instructions on how to set that up... if you don't know.
