Expansion Pack install problems

I installed both expansion packs for DimPro and Rapture. While I was attempting to audition the new sounds some of the patches of both packs gave me an error "multisample not found". When I tried to play the patch...no sound.


Anyone seen this before?

    Hmmm.....that's odd. I haven't had this problem. And the packs were tested heavily before being released. Is there any more info given to you when you recieve the error?

    i have the same problem with a couple of Dim Pro drum presets

    in both cases a window comes up and lists the samples it can't find -- about a dozen in each case

    even after downloading the zip file twice and reloading

    i'm pretty sure it's not on my end

    (with or without extensive pre-release testing)

    i didn't try every preset, but i did randomly try a few from every category

    I wasn't saying it was absolutely on your end. Just surprised. I've got to step out for a while, but if somone could send me a list of the soundsets that come up missing to the Pro-Sounds email address, I'll go through the Multisamples folder and see if they are supposed to be in Dimension Pro (or Rapture, whichever you're having trouble with) by default and/or via the Expansion Pack, or if we accidently included samples that users wouldn't have otherwise (which is unlikely for Dimension Pro, as I don't have any other soundsets but the defaults and the 2 expansions installed for it...but it's a possibility for the Rapture XP, as I have quite a few things installed in that folder aside from the default and XP1/2 stuff).

    it will have to wait for after business hours when i get home this evening

    as i said it was an initial random selection that found 2 of the drum presets (out of 4, I think)) in the XP2 for Dim Pro, if memory serves

    so one wouldn't have to look around too much to find those
    as I recall, the lists of th emissing were mostly cymbal/hi-hat samples, but I'll give you what I got this evening

    there may be more I couldn't say for sure

    That's odd. No problems with the drum kits here, and no problems in RP XP-2.
    As reported earlier, DP XP-2 yields the following sfzlog.txt popups in my particular setup:

    File c:\cakewalk\dimension pro\multisamples\13 - electric basses\slap bass ii\pb1_rwslp_snp_f2_07.wav not found or couldn't be loaded.
    Programs involved: FG Switch-Hitter.prog; FG Rock Slap.prog
    File c:\cakewalk\dimension pro\multisamples\12 - electric pianos\rhodes mk2\b5m-m.wav not found or couldn't be loaded.
    Programs involved: FG MKII Amped Up.prog; FG Velo-Switched Rhodes.prog

    Neither sample listed can be opened in Sound Forge v.8.0a, which reports an unsupported format with both files. Audacity 1.2.4 will not open them directly, either, but importing them as raw audio data brings up a noise waveform. (Signed 16 bit PCM; little-endien.) The DP XP-2 pack was downloaded several times, overwritten, and uninstalled/re-installed between cold boots.

    None of the samples in wrench45us nor b rock are installed by the XP2. Those belong to the original content set.

    The XP2 patches count on the original set, plus the XP1 set plus the XP2 set. I suggest you to check if the reported samples are there, or/and if they are valid and can be opened. If they're deleted or corrupted, then loading any patch using those will result in errors.

    XP2 uses factory samples which are not in use in Factory nor XP1 sets.

    When I went to DimPro I opened the XP2 drums folder. THe very first file I opened:
    FG construction zone I immediately got "can't find...combo2.sfz.

    I did a search on the whole computer and it couldn't find it.

    I went to the next file: FG crush and got the same message.

    I then went (randomly) to Industrial State and it was looking for grainular_stop.wav.

    I searched again my whole daw and it couldn't find the .wav file plus the DimPro program couldn't find 1x12, 421-1m.sfz.

    I don't have time right now to check all of the programs as well as Rapture XP2 as well.

    I appreciate any help!

    Phew...

    I'm glad you got that working.




    Did I miss something? I have several Dim Pro programs that are not working,
    including programs that are not part of DimPro XP2.

    Can someone give me some direction? Should I do a complete re-install or just the sample sets?

    Please let me know.

    we've been told that in b-rock and my case the missing sample files are from the original Dim Pro install and so re-installing that would fill in the blanks
    i haven't tried it yet
    i didn't have the energy to try that last evening, but I have no reason to doubt that it should work

    if your missing samples are from the original install that should also work for you

    we seem to be the only 3 where something mysterious happened to a few original samples on the d/l of XP-2
    or earlier -- so recovery is the recommendation

    If you're getting some file errors from the original Dimension Pro install (as in files are corrupted or can't be read), chances are that a total reinstall isn't a bad idea. Even if you fix the files you're seeing errors with, other files might be corrupted as well. Dimension Pro has over 16000 individual files, probably more than your Windows installation itself, so if you have had any episode of virus, system crash, etc. it's a good statistic target for data corruption.

    Now, if you need to extract a few files from the package and want to avoid the full reinstall, just get this free utility:

    There're versions for all platforms. Just open the container .7z files and extract the ones you want.
