Experiment: Nashville sound

Sonar forum member suggested I post here..

Im experimenting trying to get a good "country Nashville" type sound.

I have re-cut a Randy Travis song here in my home studio. Using ONLY the tools available in Sonar 8.01

Thought you might like to hear the results.

Really well done. Your son sounds just like Randy.

    • Original Randy vocal is more upfront (less reverb?).
    • It almost sounds like the re-cut verse vocal gets louder as the song progresses as you are adding more instruments. Could be my imagination.
    • Background vocals are a bit heavy with the reverb.
    • Kickdrums are very close.

    Overall a great job.

thank you........its been a real "learning" experience so far...wish I had done this long ago.
Yeah...the level does increase. I noticed that boost11, for some reason, was "jumping" up a few notches. I double checked to see if I had 'automated" boost11...I had not. This may be a "glitch" in software....will experiment more.

I never paid much attention to the "high-pass" filters. Last night I used them on most every track to take out the lows.........seemed to really help the "clarity" of the mix. I will post an update.....if I havent screwed something else up using the HP filters.

Thanks so much for your comments.
