Export Audio

Is there a way to default "files of type" to mp3? When I open export audio it always default to AIFF format n I have to make the change to mp3 manually.

    That's weird, since the beginning of time mine has always defaulted to WAVE. 
    So what ever you did to change it to AIFF must be the answer to your question. 
    Far as I know there is no where you can change the export dialog other than what you see. 
    There's certainly nothing in preferences where it should be. 
    I've always been bothered by this myself as I have to manually change the 32 bit to 16 bit for 90 % of my exports.
