Export Trouble
Ive been working on a mix and wanted to export it and listen in my truck to see where im at. When i export it i then load it in another project to raise the level on it a little. Problem is, after i export it theres some static during the intro to the song. Theres two guitars playing the same thing by theirselves in the intro so you can hear the static very well. When the whole band gets going you cant really hear it but its there cause ive exported just the guitar tracks and the static is all the way through the song. When im in the multi track project theres no static even with the guitar trcks soloed. But when i mix down to a stereo track the static is very noticable in the intro. Its loud enough that i should be able to hear it in the multi track project too but i cant hear it. If the noise is in the tracks why cant i hear it until i mix down to stereo? Anyone have any ideas on this??

How hot is your project and the export level in master bus (everything is routed through Master Bus?)?
What are your sample rate/bit depth in project/export and export settings? What dithering mode are you using (not that it should cause such, really)?
So you don't hear any of the crackling in the project even when you solo the guitars? And the noise is there already
in the original export, not after the second export from the "level-raising project"?

Re-import the export into your working project to it's own stereo track.
Route it directly to your main outs.
Solo it.
Bypass the master buss.
Does it sound the same as your multitrack?
This should provide you with enough clues to troubleshoot the problem.

I suggest using a 3rd party editor to listen to the music. Even Windows Media player will let you hear the music before you burn a disk.
Audacity and Wavepad are 2 that are good to use. They let you see the wave, edit it and play it to be sure everything is good before you convert to MP3 or do anything else with it.
If the static is coming from the computer, you can solve it before you burn.
If the playback is perfect.... no static noise... the noise has to be coming from some other source,,,, from the export process, the sound card, or perhaps the player in the vehicle.
First step.... listen to the export IN the same computer using a music player.

Hi Iv'e been using VLC media player lately,and it works ok,and it plays back exports immediately,after leaving Sonar. Before that I was using itunes,but since they changed it,and the amazing amount of junk that gets downloaded,put me off,though it was worlds better than Win Media Player,which no matter what,always played files with more top end,and also louder,so "not suitable" for critical listening IMO. I did get caught out with VLC initially,when it had a hidden[to me at the time]"smiley"graphic eq set up that confounded me for a little while[files were both "treblier and bassier" at the same time...wouldn't you know!  Bob P.S. I have cakewalk Pyro,but I tend to do everything in X2a,and then check with VLC[free 64 bit,though it's a "beta"]

I think i finally figured out what was causing the noise. The guitar tracks i mentioned are all DI tracks. I was using TH2 Producer on the guitar tracks w everything turned off except the amp. Then route them to a bus with various other fx including a plugin called MixIr from Redwirez. I love their cab impulses. I tried turning off every plug one at a time and exporting to see if there was a difference. Finally i turned off the MixIr plug and turned on the cab within TH2 and exported it and there was no noise!! Now i know what was causing the noise but i have no idea why.

Although the TH2 Cabinet IR is not as fancy as MixIR, TH2 should be able to import the Redwirez impulses and play them without MixIR.

Thats true but i have a few presets in redwirez that i spent alot of time making and i really like. some presets have two impulses some have more. Anyway, im now just curious at what was causing the noise. Ive used the MixIR a zillion times and have never noticed any noise but i think ive always used it with Guitar rig and variuos other amp sims.
