Export audio - X1 crashes

I have a new system, newly installed X1, and the X1a. When doing "Bounce to tracks" all tracks, and then "Export Audio", Sonar crashes. What to do?

So, after restarting X1 export audio works Ok.

    I'm working on Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1.

Maybe the fault of SP1, because the system before reinstalling everything was Ok.

      Hi:

I was having same problem. SONAR X1 hangs on ShellExt64.dll causing crash.

I could resolve it by un-checking te "64 bit engine" option in Export dialog.

Sonar works like a charm now for me.

My system is exactly as yours: Win 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 + SONAR X1 with X1c update + M-AUDIO Fast Track Ultra 8R with native drivers (not ASIO4ALL)

I hope this information could help you, or other people with the same problem. I'd expended very much time to resolve.

    Best regards:

    Upgrade IMMEDIATELY to X1C

Then try it again, then report back if it's still causing you problems.

    Hi Bristol_Jonesey:
I'd upgraded SONAR to X1c, but even I can't to export audio if "64 bit engine" option is enabled in Export Audio dialog.

My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate - 64 bits & M-AUDIO FastTrack Ultra 8R in a Quad core with 12 Gb RAM & 4 Tb internal HDD, ATI Sapphire (Radeon HD 4800 series).

I would like to resolve this for more accuracy in exporting proccess (and no hanging or crash, of course ;-)

If anybody knows how to resolve this, please help needed...

Uncheck "Fast Bounce" - see what happens.

Most likely explanation, especially if you're using samplers, is that you're running out of memory. Turning off the 64-bit option cuts your RAM requirements nearly in half. Try freezing one or more of your sampled instruments before the export.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Uncheck "Fast Bounce" - see what happens.

    Hi Bristol_Jonesey:

First, very much thanks for your help. Well, I'd tried with unchecking "Fast Bounce" and the same occurs. Sonar only runs well in Audio Exporting with "64 bit engine" unchecked. It's not a capital fail (I can export audio in all bit depth resolutions), but it's a fail ;-)

Ok, I'll try freezing my sampled instruments, and will see what happens. But it'll be tomorroy. I think my system will not put up with more "restarts" ha ha ha.

Excuse me, please, for my English writing (I'm from Spain) and thank you both (in advance too) for your explanations and attempts to resolve this issue.

Hello guys: Something strange has happened.

Suddenly SONAR X1c has begun to hangs striving failing with a BEX64 error few minutes before it starts. As some time has left the audio card FastTrack Ultra 8R also hung, I tried to change the native drivers then by the asio4all at its latest version, and everything went perfectly.

In addition, I now have even less latency than before ;-)

I'm beginning to suspect that there is some kind of incompatibility in my system. Possibly the drivers of my sound card are incompatible with those of my graphics card (I've seen small oddities in the functioning of the graphic interface of SONAR X1c), because this has begun to happen once I have updated the drivers today of my ATI Radeon HD 4800 graphics card to its latest version v11.9

Already I'll go updating with the news, and the possible solutions that have gone finding.

However, I remain with the same errors at Audio Exporting. Even by freezing the sample's synthesizers.

    I'll se you later...

I'm having the same issue here and cannot export through any file type.

I have frozen all tracks, but when Export starts, it just stays at 0%.

The song has around 35 tracks with effects (effects not frozen).

I'm not sure what else to do here. I was not having the same issue a few days ago. I have tried rebooting and

    System: Win7, 64bit, i7 2.8gh, 8 gb ram, 750g HD.

Same issue with me. Won't even open the dialog box to disable 64 bit engine. Just two audio tracks. Older projects which were once exported do not export either. Reinstalled sonar including registry files and such with the same result. Crashes with either ASIO or WDM.

    Hi Friends,

In my experience, if you're getting crashes the instant you go to File > Export > Audio and the dialog attempts to open, it might be related to External Audio Encoder settings. I've seen cases where people have incomplete registry entries resulting in crashes. How this happens can be a bit confusing, so maybe you folks can help.

If you'd like to test a theory I have in how to resolve this, try doing the following:

    1) Open the run prompt in Windows by holding down the "Windows" key and pressing "R" on your keyboard
    2) Type in the following: regedit
    3) Click [OK] if prompted with a message asking if you would like to authorize the program to make changes

IMPORTANT: When you access the Registry Editor, create a backup by going to File > Export. In the Export menu, make sure you have "All" selected and that the "Save As Type" is set to "Registration Files (*.reg). It is very important to create a backup of your registry because if you accidentally delete a registry key there is no undo function. You can, however, double-click on the Registry backup you made above to re-import your registry keys if you make any mistakes. You MUST re-import your backup (if needed) before restarting your computer.

    4) Read the IMPORTANT note above. Seriously, it's important.
    5) In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CakewalkExtAudioEncoders
    6) Right-click over the "CakewalkExtAudioEncoders" folder and select Delete
    7) Close the Registry.

At this point, try launching SONAR and testing the File > Export again.

NOTE: If you have SONAR X1 Producer Expanded, you will want to run the SONAR X1 Expanded installer again for Export to SoundCloud presets to reappear.

If this ends up resolving the issue for you, can you let me know:
    1) What exact version of SONAR you own.
    2) What exact installers and updates have you installed, and in what order did you install them.
    3) Do you use any registry cleaner utilities? If so, which ones?

In step 6 above you could also right click and rename the key to something like "CakewalkExtAudioEncoders-backup"

That will have the same effect and will allow you to restore it by renaming it back if you wish.

Thanks. That fixed it. I uninstalled everything even in the registry except the part explained above. I don't us a registry cleaner. I installed according to the protocol in Sonar X1. After that I updated Sonar to 1c then all the included components namely Guitar Rig 4, Beatscape and Dimension Pro 1.5. That's it. Interestingly this just happended a few days ago, so I didn't update anything or add anything since then. But all is well. Thanks again. BTW, there were three folders within the CakewalkExtAudioEncoders registry folder.

Did you note the differences if any in that registry key before and after the reinstall?
We're curious to know what was in those keys before you did a reinstall.

Ryan: I'm having the same problem. Do you have any updates to your fix, such as feedback from users with the problem or perhaps a different fix method? I have X1d Extended. I did install Aaron's plug in for various export encoders, if that's relevant. --Dean L. Surkin

One day, when I have the time, I will learn how to use all the features of Cakewalk 2.0. Oh, wait, Sonar 8.5. What did you say? Sonar version what?

    I had this problem....

It stemmed from any program messing with the Microsoft Visual C Runtimes...

Every time I installed a program that changed the VCR Libraries...when I
went to export in X1 the program crashed...

I solved it by re-installing and then not allowing any programs to install or update the VCR libraries and the problem
has been non-existent ever since...Windows update is notorious for changing the VCR's as well, so I shut Auto Update off..
I do my updates manually now...
That has been months ago and the problem has ceased to exist since then...

    Coincidence?  Maybe, but not likely...

It happened with EVERY version of Sonar I had installed until I made the change....

Currently X1De...all has been well since....

Go to your CAKEWALK folder, click on Sonar X1 folder. Right click on SONARPDR.exe and click on properties. Click on COMPATIBILITY tab and check the following options: Disable desktop compisition, Disable display scaling on high DPI settings, Run this program as an administrator.

Good thread resurrection - very relevant to the new version of Sonar.
